NETGEAR WiFi Range Extender Review

Recently, I was offered an opportunity to review the EX6100 WiFi Range Extender from Netgear. I jumped at the chance because our household WiFi router is located where it is most convenient for my wife in our kitchen in a monstrosity of a cabinet so my wife – who doesn’t have to service it – does not have to look at it. The problem is, our kitchen is on the first floor, and our bedroom (where the second television – and its poor-antenna endowed “smart” blu-ray cousin) is on the second floor. Unfortunately, this means our blu-ray cannot establish a … Continue reading

No More Cracked Fingers this Winter Thanks to @SheaButterMkt {#GIVEAWAY}

About a month ago, I took on a new job as the Social Media Manager for Shea Butter Market, a company that makes natural, organic skin care products for the entire family! I took the job without having tried the products, which in hind sight might not have been a smart move, but luckily I trust the MommiesFirst Council, where I first learned of Shea Butter Market and it has turned out beautifully because I ADORE their products. My favourite product are their Pure Shea Butter products. While they aren’t as convenient as we are used to as far as … Continue reading

EPIC – an enchanting movie

Epic is a computer animated movie whose story is loosely based on the children’s book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs by William Joyce. It tells the story of a world in the forest occupied by two inch tall human-like people (the Leaf Men), their allies (anthropomorphic talking animals including slugs and snails, as well as mythical creatures like jinns) and their enemies (the Boggans, which are humanoid gargoyle looking things), the human scientist obsessed with proving their existence, and his estranged daughter who inadvertently becomes part of their world. Now, when I first saw the trailer for … Continue reading

A Smartphone at a Smart Price: The @Huawei Ascend Y210

In case you missed my review of the Google Nexus 7, a brief caveat: I am fully versed and immersed in the iPhone/iPad world. On top of that, I am also an electrical engineer. (In other words, if you came here looking for a mommyblogger’s thoughts on the handset in question, uh, there’s a back button somewhere on your browser that you might want to try out, like, now.) The Huawei Ascend Y210 is a smartphone running Android Gingerbread (2.3.6), running on the Telus network here in Canada, and available at Walmart for $80 without contract. The detailed specifications are: … Continue reading

Babies Sleep Tight with Sleep Sacs from Sweet Dreams & Flying Machines

As noted in one of my earlier posts reviewing the Zipadee-zip, my little one loves being confined into a swaddle of any sort while sleeping. The only problem now is that she has almost outgrown both of her Zipadee-zips! She soon will be 10 months old (where has the time flown?) and at her recent check up measured a whopping 74.6 cm! She’s going to be a tall girl just like her momma. While I LOVE the Zipadee-zip with a passion as they are seriously magical, I thought it was only fair to test out a Canadian product when ready … Continue reading

Google Nexus 7 {REVIEW}

Before I start my review of the Google Nexus 7, I have to confess that I am fully immersed in the iOS (that’s Apple iPhone and iPad) ecosystem. I’m also an electrical engineer by trade, with a lot of programming under my belt. So… yeah. This isn’t going to be your typical Multi-testing Mommy review. Sorry about that. The Google Nexus 7 is an Android tablet running Jellybean. Mine shipped with 4.1.1, but was clamoring for an update as soon as it could access the internet, after which it was 4.2.2, which is the latest version as of this writing. … Continue reading

Fun Glass Storage for Food by @WeanGreen

For three months now, my daughter has been eating solid foods – and what a fun time it’s been! I love trying new foods with her and seeing what kind of face she’ll make. Packing lunches for play dates is also really fun. For those of you who have read my previous posts, you know I am always on the look out for environmentally friendly products where possible. While looking for food storage solutions, I came across Wean Cubes. For the last month or so, we have been using the ‘Garden Pack Wean Cubes’ and absolutely LOVE them! Not only … Continue reading

Dance Moms: Makeup 101

I am a Dance Mom and let me tell you that I do NOT come by it naturally! My daughter has been dancing since she was 2 1/2. She absolutely loves it and she’s a natural. Over the past six or so years, I have had to learn many “tricks of the trade” in order to survive as a “Dance Mom”. Two of the areas where I have struggled and learned a lot is hair and make up. You see, I’m not a “girly girl”, far from it in fact. Most days, I go make up free and my hair … Continue reading

The Safe Sippy 2™ from @KidBasix

For two months now, our daughter has been eating solid foods. It has been a really fun journey so far! At each meal, I have been giving her some water to help ‘wash’ her new foods down. We started using a standard sippy cup, however found it frustrating as she wanted to hold it and drink all by herself. We found she wasn’t strong enough to tilt the cup up and back far enough to have any success. I began to search for a sippy cup with a straw so that she didn’t need to tilt or lift the cup. … Continue reading
