Book Review: Snacktivities by MaryAnn F. Kohl and Jean Potter

Snacktivities by MaryAnn F. Kohl and Jean Potter is a perfectly sized little book that has some really sweet ideas for making food fun for kids. I really love making food fun for my kids once in a while. It certainly isn’t an every day thing, but once in a while I have fun creating special fun plates of food to put in front of them that make them smile and enjoy their meals that much more. Snacktivities has 50 activities that are all creatively named like ABC-heese Broil and Biscuit Blossoms. The Ingredients, Utensils and Process are all listed … Continue reading

Book Review: Art with Anything: 52 Weeks of Fun Using Everyday Stuff by MaryAnn F. Kohl

Art with Anything is a very fun and unique Art Activity book that is written for children aged 4 to 10 in mind by MaryAnn F. Kohl. I really like how the book is organized by week and each week focuses on a different type of craft material. It’s truly amazing the number of activities that one can do with the same type of material! This way, you can stay somewhat “set up” for the week without getting too many different things out. This book is written with the craft enthusiast in mind, however, you don’t have to do the … Continue reading

BOOK REVIEW: You Are a Gift to the World by Laura Duksta

The author of You Are a Gift to the World, Laura Duksta, lost all of her hair at the age of eleven. As a result of this, she has experienced bullying, teasing and depression! After learning to love and accept herself (at the age of 30!), she finally began to live her life and has began to spread the message that “we get back what we reflect to others”. She began to write books that teach people to express and accept love, something that many of us have difficult with! I love this book, it’s unique twist is so wonderful … Continue reading

BOOK REVIEW: The Cake Mix Doctor’s Icing on the Cake by Anne Byrn

I was asked if I was interested in taking a quick sneak peek at this wonderful ebook FULL of mouth watering icing recipes! Apparently author, Anne Byrn, is the queen of cake mixes, but when it comes to frosting a cake, she believes in doing it from scratch. There are recipes for every type of frosting/topping you could ever imagine from traditional buttercream to glazes and drizzles! The only thing is that I cannot figure out where to buy this ebook for Canadians! Hopefully it will be coming soon….

REVIEW: Sears Stars on Ice presented by Samsung

Last night, I had the fortunate opportunity to join 3 of my girlfriends in seeing Stars on Ice at the ACC in Toronto! WOW is all I have to say. Just WOW! The Skaters…. My girlfriends and I laughed, screamed, ooed and ahhed, clapped, giggled, smiled, sang and even danced a little in our seats! We really had a fabulous time. I found there to be the absolute perfect mix of very serious numbers and comedic numbers. There were slow ones and fast ones. There was live singing, Kurt Browning even talked throughout the show which I found to be … Continue reading

BOOK REVIEW: Bringing Back Beatrice! 1,108 Baby Names with Meaning, Character and a Little Bit of Attitude by Jennifer Griffin

Bring Back Beatrice! 1,108 Baby Names with Meaning, Character and a Little Bit of Attitude. Written by Jennifer Griffin I am writing this review while in the midst of choosing names for my baby to be. It’s our first so the process of choosing a name is quite a new one. I enjoyed many aspects of “Bring Back Beatrice!” including its size. My first thought when I picked up the book was “wow, this book will fit in my purse!” (it is about 4x6x1 inches). I find looking at lists of names quite overwhelming so this book was a refreshing … Continue reading

(closed) REVIEW and GIVEAWAY: GlassDharma Glass Drinking Straws

Congratulations to Commenter #68 Rae T.! In our house, we consume drinks that require straws on a daily basis. Not so much the adults in the house, but definitely the children! I really didn’t like the fact that we were going through SO many disposable straws. I try to be as environmentally conscious whenever I can! I had seen Glass Dharma straws pop up here and there all over the internet recently and I was extremely happy to be able to give them a try in our family! We received a variety of shapes and sizes to try out and … Continue reading

BOOK REVIEW: My Name is not Alexander by Jennifer Fosberry

I loved Jennifer Fosberry’s book, My Name Is Not Isabella: Just How Big Can a Little Girl Dream?! My daughter and I read it often. It is such a wonderful book for girls to be inspired by! She was so proud to have this book that she brought into her class for her teacher to share with her class! Jennifer Fosberry has a new book that follows a young boy on an imaginary trip through history as he pretends to be some of the innovative men who influenced and shaped our world. The men who are mentioned (and described in … Continue reading
