Teachers Pay Teachers

My friend Lisa Marie from The Canadian Homeschooler is hosting a wonderful opportunity for ANYONE who enjoys providing their children with fun and educational activities at home during her 5 Days of Canadian Teachers Pay Teachers Event. Each day this week, Lisa Marie will be featuring a new teacher and product (think printables, activities, templates) from the Teachers Pay Teachers site, one of my favourite sites ever! The Teachers Pay Teachers Store is an open marketplace where teachers can share, sell and purchase affordable, original teacher resources. Newly Released Disney Movies Including Frozen on Blu ray

Frozen

Have you seen the movie Frozen yet? I highly recommend you watch Frozen on Blu ray! My family saw Frozen when it was in theatres and I am glad that we did, because we all thoroughly enjoyed the movie. By the time we arrived home after watching the movie, hubby had purchased the entire sound track and we both had the music on our phones. As of today, a few of the classic songs from the movie are still on my daily play list and I have been known to belt out the song “Let it Go” in my house … Continue reading

At What Age Can Children Walk to School Independently?

What age can children walk to school independently

I’m sure you have heard of Kathy Buckworth before, she is an award winning writer, public speaker, spokesperson and television personality. Yesterday, Kathy spoke on CFRB 1010 Radio on the topic of children walking to school independently. I was also privy to a group discussion on this exact topic which got me thinking about my own children. Recently, I have found myself questioning how much independence or lack of independence I am giving my daughter who is about to turn 9 years old. I think back to when I was 9 and I was walking to school (a 15 minute … Continue reading

iRead With Ebooks for Early Readers from @ilearnwith

ebooks for early reading

I have had so many conversations with parents of young children whose children are struggling to read and the parents cannot seem to find anything that motivates them. Perhaps this new reading program called iRead With for iPad users is exactly what these families need. “iRead With” books are interactive ebooks for early readers that encourage children to talk and interact with their parents while they learn. This wonderful concept actually brings parents and children together instead of simply throwing an electronic device at their child (which, yes, I am guilty of doing too!). iRead With is based on the … Continue reading

The Trees Have Hearts by @MRSDBOOKS {Children’s Book Review}

The Tress Have Hearts

The Trees Have Hearts is a lovely story written by Mrs. D. (Olga D’Agostino). This story was written for girls between the ages of 6-10. My daughter is 8, almost 9, and both her and I enjoyed reading this book together. It is the story of a young girl, left friendless because she could not speak a new language. This girl lived in an old house with a small garden, where three blooming trees and the mysterious wind became her first imaginary friends. Her new friends helped her overcome her fears and worries. This is a story that shares the … Continue reading

March Break Activities at Home

March Break Activities for Kids

Last year, I shared a post with some ideas for some March Break activities at home and this year I would like to add a few more fun ideas… Sometimes, many children just want a break during March Break. A small amount of down time is important to schedule each day, if possible. The last thing you want is for your children to feel like they were on the go the entire March Break. Kids like down time too! In our house, we call it quiet time. Sometimes the kids have a nap and sometimes they play quietly in their … Continue reading
