Eating a Rainbow!

Last weekend, my six year old daughter and I were grocery shopping together when all of a sudden she piped up with a brilliant idea, “Mommy – let’s buy enough food so that we can eat a rainbow snack when we get home”. So, off we went on a rainbow adventure through the grocery store. We had quite the health lesson as we perused through the fruit and vegetable aisles. Here is what she chose for our snack: Have you heard of Today I Ate a Rainbow? I don’t own any of these products, but they look super fun for … Continue reading

Maple Leaf® Top Dogs™ – Get Grillin’ (REVIEW and closed GIVEAWAY)

Congratulations to the winners: Kevin Linkie and Doris Calvert! My family loves to bbq – let me rephrase that! My hubby bbq’s, the kids LOVE to play outside while he does this and my family LOVES to eat the food that he makes 🙂 My family also loves to eat hotdogs. While “Top Dogs™ are made from only the best ingredients”, I still do try to limit that number of times we serve them, but when I do – they get gobbled up in no time flat – yum, yum! We did an experiment and grilled up three different packs … Continue reading

popchips™: A Healthier Snacking Alternative! (REVIEW)

popchips™ are an amazing creation! They are potatoes that are not fried or baked – they are popped (using some heat and a little pressure) – seasoned and voila, they are the perfect healthy snack for the whole family to enjoy – guilt free! I LOVE the popchips™ pledge: Our all-natural pledge: no fake colors, no fake flavors, no preservatives, no fluorescent orange fingertips, and no wiping your greasy chip hand on your jeans. Now, that is classic! I love how they have no artificial colouring or artificial flavours. Those are two key points that I like to see in … Continue reading

RECIPE: Homemade Blueberry Oat Waffles

Blueberry Oat Waffles

They don’t call me “Mommy the Messy Baker” for nothing! I have a Cuisinart waffle maker and it has taken me four different recipes, a lot of messes and quite a long time to “master” making my own waffles. The first time I made waffles, the waffles grew and they grew and they grew. They kept growing, I honestly thought they were going to land on the floor! I thought that halving the amount of batter that went into the waffle iron would fix the problem. It didn’t. I thought that changing the recipe would fix the problem. It didn’t. … Continue reading

Prairie Naturals Organic Whey Protein Powder (REVIEW and GIVEAWAY)

Mornings are rather chaotic around our house to say the least! I’ve recently been enjoying some faster breakfast options for myself, one of which is an Organic Whey Protein Powder made by Prairie Naturals. I was sent the Wild Field Berry flavour to test out. Although I do find that you need to have an acquired taste to enjoy a protein powder shake, once you get used to them, they really are yummy! What I enjoy the most is when I do have a bit more time and I can add a scoop of powder to my homemade smoothies. This … Continue reading

REVIEW: VEGA Shake & Go Smoothies

I’ve been into making my own smoothies lately, but they do take some time to make. I have to wash the fruit/veggies, mix everything up in the blender and then clean it all. Some mornings, I feel like a smoothie, but my laziness or time just doesn’t allow me to make one. Enter, VEGA Shake & Go Smoothies. They come in four yummy flavours: Choc-a-Lot Tropical Tango Bodacious Berry Vanilla Almondilla My favourite flavour is definitely the chocolate one. I’ve added just water to the powders and mixed them up with my mini hand frother and away we go! Yummy, … Continue reading

REVIEW: Barney Butter Snacks – Almond Butter

Barney Butter is an almond butter that comes in a variety of convenient snacking forms including snack packs! It is an all natural almond butter made with Premium California Almonds and has HALF THE SATURATED FAT of peanut butter! We sampled the Snack Packs. They are super convenient because they can travel in your purse, lunch bag etc. and simply need to be mixed while still in the packet, opened and squeezed out. They can be spread on toast, crackers or even apples. We really enjoyed the taste of this yummy almond butter! Unfortunately, we didn’t realize that Barney Butter … Continue reading
