BOOK REVIEW: Personal Skills Books for Children by Pat Palmer

I received a copy of both “Liking Myself” and “The Mouse, The Monster and Me” by Pat Palmer. These books are unique, interesting and fabulous. “Liking Myself” is geared towards children aged 5-10. I was never taught to “Like Myself”. I was never taught to look at my strengths and weaknesses, although I do remember that my weaknesses were pointed out on a regular basis (and still are), but that’s for a different post! By actively engaging children in the reading of this book, I believe that the message really hits home. Children are encouraged to reflect upon their own … Continue reading

BOOK REVIEW: E Is for Ethics

Feel free to enter my Upper Canada Soap contest that ends this Sunday at 11:59pm! I am so happy and proud to feature a Canadian author, Ian James Corlett. He has written an amazing book called E is for Ethics that has 26 short, simple and clear stories that feature Elliott and his little sister Lucy. Each story centers on a particular positive ethic, such as honesty, kindness, charity, and integrity. After each story, there are a series of questions that guide parents into a healthy discussion about each ethic. I feel like this book is very unique. I have … Continue reading

(closed) Valentine’s REVIEW and GIVEAWAY: Upper Canada Body Truffles

Contest is now closed. Winner will be contacted via email. I received a bottle of Chocolate Strawberry Body Creme from the Upper Canada Soap Body Truffles product line to try out. I actually had to get my hubby’s help to open the bottle pump (I think this was a fluke)! Once he got it working for me, I lathered it on all over–my skin just soaked the stuff up as though it was so thirsty and I had never given it moisturizer before. I LOVE the way this body creme felt on my body and it certainly does make your … Continue reading

Maybe I’m cheap, but $54 for a boy’s shirt seems a bit steep? The shirt … Continue reading

Born Free Baby Feeding Products

Don’t forget to click on over to my Price Pfister Faucet Giveaway and my Burts Bees Giveaway! When my almost 5 year old daughter was a baby, BPA wasn’t a topic that we knew about. It makes me sick to my stomach now to think about the harmful chemicals she must have been exposed to and what they have done to her body. I remember when we first found out about BPA in baby bottles, my Mom tried to make me feel better by reminding me that back when she was pregnant with me, they didn’t know that smoking was … Continue reading

Green Beaver Skin Products

I have enjoyed a few Green Beaver products and I am sad to say that I have found the first one that I really don’t like. There aren’t many skin care products that I refuse to use, but the Green Beaver Apre-Ski Winter Body Lotion truly smells terrible. I wish I could get past the smell. I really did try because I truly believe that the product itself would work really well! Maybe if you aren’t as sensitive to smell as I am, you would like to try this out yourself? The Apre-Ski Winter Body Lotion has highly moisturizing botanical emollients … Continue reading
