BOOK REVIEW: I’m Up in a Tree by Mark Alden Johnson

I’ve mentioned before how much I love childrens’ books. Books are a terrifec and effective way to teach children new concepts, ideas and values. Books can be very influential, especially when they are followed up with a rich discussion. I’m Up in a Tree by Mark Alden Johnson is a great example of a book that can be used to teach children about themselves, their power, peer influence and confidence. It is about a young boy who decides to climb up a tree. When he realizes how high he has climbed and he is stuck, he is visited by many … Continue reading

BOOK REVIEW: Feeding Penny Pig by Jeannine Fox

I have a secret love for childrens’ books, it might have something to do with the fact that I’m a former Kindergarten teacher. I received a copy of Feeding Penny Pig by Jeannine Fox and my daughter and I have enjoyed reading it together a few times now. I truly believe that teaching financial responsibility not only needs to start when children are very young, but it also has to be modelled appropriately. If we put buy everything with credit cards and financing, are we truly setting a good example for our children? This book has encouraged my daughter to … Continue reading

REVIEW: CoverMates

I received a Variety Pack of CoverMates to try out and I have to say, I like them for some reasons and I dislike them for others! We own many tupperware containers as well as glass bowls with lids, but let’s face it, there are also many times I don’t want to transfer the leftover food only to dirty another container and plastic wrap is the only option. Well, now I can use CoverMates instead and not feel as guilty because they are reusable and washable too! The one negative, I found is that when I wash them, they take … Continue reading

We received a copy of the Laughing Pizza “It’s Pizza Time” DVD and the CD “Let’s Go Play” for review and boy am I glad we did! Both my 5 year old daughter and 18 month old son absolutely ADORE both listening to the cd and dancing along to the DVD. I have to admit, that I truly do find the music to be quite catchy and you can find me singing along in the background as the kids enjoy the music. Do take note that I tend to enjoy kids’ music in general! I’m that kind of freak. Laughing … Continue reading

REVIEW: HealthPod Baby

I like to be organized, but when it comes to keeping track of everything to do with my children and their development, milestones, keepsakes etc., I am not that great! Up until now, I have tried to keep track of my childrens’ health by entering everything into a word document on my computer. The problem is two fold:a) I have to remember to do this.b) I have to make sure I don’t lose the papers that I write notes down on prior to entering the info onto the computer. ENTER: HEALTHPOD Baby What is HealthPod Baby? It’s a beautifully made … Continue reading
