Marachino Cherry Shortbread Squares INGREDIENTSBase:1 cup pastry flour OR 1 cup minus 2 Tbsp all purpose flour1 Tbsp icing sugar1/2 cup butter Filling:1 cup brown sugar1/4 cup flour1/2 cup coconut1/2 tsp baking powder1 cup chopped cherries2 eggs well beaten Icing:1 cup icing sugar1 Tbsp butter1 tsp almond flavouring and a little cherry juice DIRECTIONS Mix the base ingredients and press into a 9 inch square baking pan. I haven’t made these delicious squares yet this year so I am unable to provide you with a photo, but let me tell you that they are absolutely sinful! If you love cherries with the combination of chocolate, you will not be disappointed! Cherry Squares Bottom Layer1/2 cup butter, softened1/3 sugar1 cup flour Mix the above using an electric mixer (I use my Kitchen Aid).
