Tuesday Tip: Fill your Outdoor Urns NOW!

We shared a post last December with you about Adding Pizazz to Your Outdoor Decor. Outdoor urns can really add to the “curb appeal” of your home. The weather is starting to get colder FAST! Get out there this week and fill your outdoor urns before it gets too cold! While you’re out there, put up your holiday lights. You don’t need to turn them on just yet, but you’ll be thankful that you got them up before it gets so cold out there that you can’t feel your fingers! QUESTION:Do you use winter tires? We want to know! If … Continue reading

Almond Bars a.k.a. Desperation Cake

Every year, I have a list of holiday treats that I make. One of those treats includes my Grandmother’s recipe for Almond Bars, otherwise known as Desperation Cake. I have no idea where the name Desperation Cake comes from, but that is ok. To me, it will always be called that. These bars are moist and the easiest bars ever to make with only 5 ingredients and ONE bowl. Add Some Pizazz to Your Outdoor Decor

There are many ways to show festivity during the holidays and one of those ways is start your decorating from outside in! Take what you already have outside and make it festive! My Mom is my inspiration when it comes to decorating and creativity. Every time I go to her house there is a new decoration in her home. She is full of bright ideas and always puts her own creative twist to ideas that she finds on places like Pinterest – her new addiction. While her home may not be the most child friendly house on the block, it … Continue reading

Christmas Movies and Books for Kids

During the month of December, our family loves to sit together and watch Christmas movies! My 7 year old daughter is really into movies lately and my 4 year old boy, well, he is in the room with us, watching bits and pieces. But either way, it is a great way to spend some good quality family time together! Typically, we watch movies on Saturday night. We make some appetizer/finger foods for dinner (often from M&M Meats because we love their selection!) and we eat in front of the movie. What holiday movies will you be watching with your children … Continue reading

Secret Santa Ideas

I used to LOVE participating in Secret Santa exchanges when I was a teacher. Typically, the exchange would go on for a week and being that teachers can definitely be a creative bunch, it was always SO much fun sneaking around and placing fun treats everywhere for your “person”! This year, I participated in an online version of Secret Santa with a great bunch of blogger friends where we mailed a gift to our “person”. It was so much fun going shopping for someone and anticipating the mail to arrive, wondering if that would be the day my Secret Santa … Continue reading

Decorating Outdoors for Christmas

One of my favourite family traditions during the holiday season that we have in our family is to walk around our neighbourhood after dinner and check out all of the beautiful holiday decorations and lights. At least once, we will also hop in our car and slowly drive through other local neighbourhoods. One thing that I’ve been impressed with this year are what some people are doing to their garage doors! The holiday decor that I have noticed on and around garage doors stand out all day and night! I’ve seen seasonal painted doors, garlands, lights and more! I noticed … Continue reading
