2016 Valentine’s Day Gift Guide: Supporting Small Businesses

I love Valentine’s Day! While it is not a holiday that we have to celebrate, it is always a fun one and I tend to go all out with it in our home.

Consider this post a
Valentine’s Day Gift Guide
with some great gift ideas that also support small businesses.

For the kids, there are two great gift ideas that I would love to share with you
along with many other Valentine’s Day activities:

Valentine Curiosity Box
I’m a huge fan of Curiosity Box as a gift idea because it is the gift encourages creativity and keeps on giving! Choose from one of their two Valentine’s Day themed craft boxes. There are crafts and activities for children up to the age of 7 in both Valentine’s Day Curiosity Box options.

Another fun gift idea for kids are some accessories from Sugar Plum and Applesauce Boutique. At $3 a pair, what a fun treat these would be for your little one on Valentine’s Day! You can order directly through Facebook or email.

Now, let’s talk about some Valentine Gift Ideas for YOU!

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide for Adults

Has your partner ever given you a gift for Valentine’s Day that was FAR from romantic or meaningful? Sometimes people have no idea what to give, but they know that they have to give something and they end up making a choice that is far from ideal. That is why this year, I have found some fun options for you to SUGGEST to your partner. Call it subtle hinting or creating a wish list, but you may as well get something that you like or want or need, right?
Valentine's Day Gift Guide
I will never forget the year I was getting married, we I was SO excited to create our registry wish list. Hubby to be took that as a list of items that I was excited to receive no matter what the occasion. Luckily, we had “the talk” before Valentine’s Day and I saved him from giving me an IRON. Yes, you read that right…an IRON for Valentine’s Day! Seriously, there are some household gifts that I would LOVE to receive on Valentine’s Day, but an iron is definitely not one of them. I don’t even iron, but at the time I figured I should at least own one.

For my birthday, I gave myself the gift of a photo session with Lia from Lia Stefanidis Photography. Knowing now how amazing the experience was and that not only did I walk away with photos of myself, but also more self confidence and a whole new me, I can officially say that without a doubt if my husband had given me this as a gift for Valentine’s Day, it would have been an amazing, meaningful gift. A lot of women have a hard time spending money on themselves for something they don’t “need”, so this gift would definitely be appreciated by many.

Valentine Blooming Wellies
Some women are more traditional and want the flowers or the chocolates for Valentine’s Day. I used to be, but have found myself to be more practical lately, perhaps is it’s my old age – haha! For those of you (and I know there are many) that are more traditional and enjoy receiving Valentine’s Day Flowers, be sure to check out Blooming Wellies Flower Boutique if you are in the York Region area. Flowers speak the language of Love. Giving flowers was and is always a symbol of love. Sometimes it is a dozen roses, and sometimes one single bloom is enough, signifying your deepest emotions for the other person.

This year, I reached out to some of my friends and small business owners to give them the opportunity to share with you what they believe would make some amazing Valentine’s Day gift ideas! Since starting my own business with Norwex, I truly can appreciate how meaningful it is when people support local small businesses. So, I would like to give back to the small business community in the little way that I can by sharing with you some ideas.

If something reaches out to you, copy the link to this post and share it subtly OR not so subtly with your significant other and let them know what you would like!
