My Boy Lives Life In the Fast Lane
When I was pregnant with my 2nd child, I already had a boy, so I sort of new what to expect, but was not fully prepared for what would turn out to be my middle son!
From the age of 5 months old, he was army crawling, at 7 months, he was cruising, and from the first time he rolled over he was after anything with wheels. I remember him army crawling to a Hot Wheels car that belonged to his brother, smacking his hand on it and pushing it back and forth. He hasn’t outgrown this love for Hot Wheels cars since!
Every occasion that comes up, my Hot Wheels loving boy asks us for “cars, cars, and more cars” for his gifts. Everyone knows to get him Hot Wheels. We counted them once, and at that time he had over 300 of them. I asked how many more he wanted, he said when he gets to a “million billionty”, that would be enough. That sounds like a lot.
With around 500 cars currently, he sometimes forgets which ones he has and sometimes his favourites aren’t easy to find, so we made a DIY Hot Wheels Shelf for some of them:
When he is home, he likes playing with his cars. However, when we are out waiting at an office, getting him to sit still is nearly impossible. He is a mover and is always on the go, so staying in one place is really hard.
I usually bring his iPhone with us, so he can play some games and that helps keep him still for a little while. He always says he wants to be a race car driver. That is why a new app that we have discovered is just perfect for him! The app is called Hot Wheels Showdown app.
Every time he gets a new Hot Wheel Car in the package we can scan the QR Code, and it will add to his collection, and then he can use that car in a race!
This very cool app has 36 different tracks and hundreds of Hot Wheels cars. Once you have a car in your collection, you can race it anytime, anywhere! This may even help them to find new favourites in their current collection or remember that forgotten car they don’t play with anymore!
I also think it’s cool that with the new Hot Wheels Showdown app, I can work with my son to create a huge collection of awesome cars. That is his passion, and we can race together, since we both like racing and trying to beat each other!
If you want his app:
- Download the free Hot Wheels Showdown App from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
- Scan the QR code on the back of a Hot Wheels car pack – you don’t have to have a Hot Wheels pack to get started, but it sure does add to the fun.
- Your little ones are now ready to start virtually competing with their car in high-octane races!
