Last month, my daughter turned 10. Some days, I honestly feel like she is 10 going on 20 (or sometimes 30), but at the end of the day, she will always be my little girl. Raising a daughter has its challenges, but there are also many reasons to celebrate!
I am proud to be a woman and I want my daughter to embrace and love the fact that she is a girl too! Being a girl can be tough, but it definitely has some major perks too.
I don’t know about you, but as much as I know what I want to teach my daughter and the characteristics that I hope to help her develop, sometimes I feel I’m at a loss for how to do this effectively.
This is where G Day \Toronto comes into play!
To celebrate the perks of being a girl, G Day has put together a day-long celebration! This event is a rite of passage celebration for girls and their caregivers to welcome them into adolescence.
G Day Toronto is taking place on Sunday April 26th at Daniels Spectrum in Regent Park, and features an amazing lineup of speakers and artists who will be presenting a variety of material to support girls’ self-esteem and connection to one another and their families at this special time of life.

I wish that I had access to a day like this when I was a pre-teen! I found entering the teenage years to be a very confusing time, filled with questions and emotions. I remember feeling very alone during this awkward time in my life. This is the LAST thing that I want for my daughter, so I feel like taking her to G Day is starting her off on the right foot. With a day filled with workshops that are geared towards girls like movement, art, yoga, meditation and inspiring speakers, my daughter is sure to walk away with new found knowledge, excitement and confidence about herself and her body.
