A Power Packed Smoothie to Start the Day!

Please don’t yell at me…..

I’m starting to think about what my morning routine is going to look like in a few weeks once school starts up again.

WHY?

Well, after some inspirational talks with my friend Michele at Juice Plus, I’ve become motivated to re-think my morning routine.

My new routine is going to include a Power Packed Smoothie to Start the Day!

Power Packed Smoothie
What does my routine look like right now?

After lying in bed for about 15 minutes, slowly waking up while checking emails and social media on my phone, I stumble downstairs and drink a tall glass of water. While I’m doing this, I am also brewing my first cup of coffee. I typically don’t eat anything until either the kids have been dropped off at camp OR our morning is well on its way and by that time, I’m starving. I typically eat a yogurt with some chia seeds and occasionally, I will make a Power Packed Smoothie!

My NEW ROUTINE is going to involve a smoothie every morning after my glass of water. I’m hoping to postpone my cup of coffee to later in the morning as a mid-morning pick me up.

Do you think I can do it?
SURE I can! I have a plan and I’m going to stick to it.
Here are two recipes that I have tried out that are definitely helping me ease into my new routine.

Power Packed Smoothie

I’ve got another favourite smoothie recipe that I enjoy making for breakfast. I like to call it Blueberrylicious Smoothie. It is jam packed with anti-oxidants from the blueberries and has a good amount of protein to hold you longer.
Blueberrylicious Smoothie
To make this smoothie, mix the following ingredients in a blender:

  • 1 cup So Good Vanilla
  • 1.5 cups frozen wild blueberries
  • handful of spinach
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt

Smoothies are great as you can add and remove ingredients as your desire, so use your imagination and mix it up!

For a power packed smoothie every time, be sure to include the following:

  • a liquid base like So Good
  • a banana
  • yogurt as a thickener
  • fruit
  • add ice if you aren’t using frozen fruit

Two Power Packed Smoothie Tips:

  1. Choose a liquid base like So Good that offers an added protein punch.
  2. Consider adding your favourite protein powder to give your smoothie a protein boost.

I love smoothies and my freezer is jam packed with fruit for the smoothies, but I use chia seeds in mine for a thickener, and another thing I have been doing is blending a whole red grapefruit with a tablespoon of organic honey and I drink that after my supper, it’s so good!! good luck on your new routine and you can do it!!

    • That is a great idea to use chia seeds as a thickener – I could take out the yogurt part then.
