ERASE the phrase “Stupid Question” from your vocabulary!
In this day and age, it is even MORE important that we raise our daughters to be strong and confident! They are faced with so many challenges growing up. I want my daughter to be confident (but not TOO confident) and to have personal strength. I want her personality to shine out upon the world and for it to land upon many smiling faces.
I feel the need to add a side note here…
There are SO many amazing campaigns like this, surrounding women and girls, I want to express the importance of our boys growing up to SHINE STRONG too! They also face challenges, just different ones and it is important that parents help them become confident contributors to our world too.
I digress…..I don’t remember a lot from my childhood, but one thing that I DO remember is my parents teaching me that there is NO such thing as a stupid question…EVER! If you aren’t sure about something, you should feel confident enough to ask so that you do understand and if anyone laughs at you for it, you can feel good about yourself because you had the courage and strength to ask. This is something that I have tried to teach my children.
There is NO such thing as a stupid question in my books. If you are unsure, it is always better to ask! Be strong and be yourself and you will succeed.

I helped and am helping my husband cope with the onset of a debilitating disease. It is something that we do daily.
Oh dear, Elva – so sorry to hear about that. Through better or worse – you are a dedicated wife. My thoughts go out to both of you!
I agree that there is no such thing as a ‘stupid question.’ I think every educator should be teaching his/her stufents. Many people do not want to be the one asking obvious questions. They do not want to ‘lose’ face. This attitude shows lack of confidence and greatly hinders the learning process. Kudos to you.
Thank you, Elva!
I am proud that I have made it through the summer being pregnant π theres been some days that I just have no energy and want to sit on my butt all day, but i get myself up and play with my 22 month old daughter, take her outside to the park, for a walk etc. Only a couple weeks left <3
Oh yes! I remember that π That is a HUGE accomplishment and something to be very proud of. My sister is pregnant too with a 23 month old – it is not an easy task! Hugs, Mama!

Kath – that is so generous of you! Do you knit? Crochet?
I use to knit & Crochet years ago but because of my MS doing small things are difficult for me now so I took up sewing last fall
Well of course, why didn’t I think as sewing a blanket as an option? I would love to see a photo of your blankets! Feel free to share them proudly on my facebook wall! I’m sorry to hear that MS is making things difficult for you – hugs!
Our oldest child is getting ready to go to college and we spent a good part of the summer searching colleges. I’m proud that we accomplished all we needed to complete.

I’m proud that I passed the CRNE!

I am proud that I got some things organized. Now on to the rest!
Organization can be a huge job!
You are fortunate to have had parents that allowed you to ask anything, believing there was no such thing as a stupid question. I cannot claim the same, however, with our daughter, anything was up for grabs vis-a-vis questions.
I am very fortunate that my parents taught me that, yes. Although admittedly, I didn’t always feel comfortable asking them all questions! It was more in life and in school π
I guess I got my answers at school from my peers, albeit sometimes incorrect, but I made sure with our daughter and granddaughters that nothing was off limits when it came to questions.
I’m proud of running a marathon!
YAY! Such an accomplishment!

I am proud I drove my daughters car from Calgary to Waterloo in under to days to bring it home to her
WOW! Good for you! All by yourself?

That is a lot of hard work and so worth it! How much money do you figure you save by doing it this way?
We started our own garden after my husband sodium induced heart attack so that everything that we eat is fresh without the added sodium. It is a lot of hard work but keeps us in shape lol.
And saves us about $2500 – $3000 a year by growing it ourselves.

I actually made sure that my legs were shaved EVERY time I wore leg baring clothes…and if you knew me..you would know that is a HUGE accomplishment. Maybe next year I’ll accomplish doing my toenails for wearing sandals more than once..and then just leaving the polish to chip and fall off…..
Lee-Ann, do you want to know a secret? I got a pedicure done back in May and I JUST had the polish changed a couple of weeks ago – goes to show how amazing and durable the polish is….
I’ll have to give that a try next summer then! =)
