I always love to find new ways to teach my children about Canada, the country that we live in. There is all kinds of history that I would like them to learn (history that admittedly, I need to brush up on!), there are many famous Canadian people, a ton of beautiful hidden gems in Canadian geography AND there is some great Canadian television content!
Why not snuggle up with your kids, grab a snack (perhaps some Maple Leaf Sugar Cookies and enjoy some good Canadian Content on Netflix together?
All of the shows below were either filmed in Canada, take place in Canada, or were created here.
Let’s celebrate Canadian Content on Netflix together!

Two of our favourite shows from the lists above are Caillou and Super Why!
I have to say that Caillou was a favourite tv show in our house for a VERY long time! My son, especially adored watching Caillou. I remember a time when we would come home from taking his older sister to the bus stop and the first thing that he would ask to do would be to watch a Caillou show. It made me a wee bit sad when he stopped asking, because it meant that he was growing up.
Super Why! is one of my absolute favourite tv shows for young children due to its catchy educational content. The characters in this show are so creatively put together and I never had an issue when my kids asked if they could watch an episode of Super Why!
I giggled when I saw Goosebumps on the list because just last week, both of my kids got their favourite stuffies, their pillows and extra blankets and snuggled up on the couch together, something they rarely do. They decided they were going to be brave and try this show. Within 5 minutes, the tv was off and they decided to play together instead (another rarity!) because they were too spooked. My kids are EXTREMELY sensitive to “scary” content so the outcome of their attempt did not surprise me. I’m hoping that one day soon, they will give it another try!
I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team and as such, I receive special perks along the way. All opinions are my own.
You know. funny you mention Sugar Maple cookies. I’ve had my Dad heavy on my mind the past few days, a lot going on here, no one to unload on lol.. so I’ve been missing him, but anyways those, were his favourite kind of cookie and honestly .. you just don’t see them mentioned much 🙂 .. so thanks for that.
Also, I had no idea 1/2 those shows were Canadian!
I didn’t realize those shows were Canadian either – well, some of them I did.
I’m sorry that you are missing your Dad, Darlene! Maybe you should make some Sugar Cookies in his honour today? I’d love to hear whether or not my recipe would hold up to his good taste? Hugs!
He’s been gone 13 years now.. it just seems when I am going through a ‘time’ with my 24 year old.. he’s always on my mind. She was special to him as she was the 1st grandchild. She’s a difficult person on a good day. Things will improve soon I hope, I have to take legal action against her… I think I’m feeling a ton of guilt over that and can’t help but wonder..what would he think… I’m gonna give your recipe a whirl!! Thanks chickie!
I’m sorry, Darlene! Let me know what you think 🙂
Feel free to a take a pic and post it on my Facebook Page!
