When my husband and I first lived together, we rented a basement apartment. The majority of the floor space was carpeted and a vacuum became a necessity. My inlaws had recently purchased a Bissell vacuum and swore by it, so we did the same thing. I still remember the first test that we did with it by cleaning the floors with the little mini vacuum that we had and then seeing all of the dirt and dust being lifted out of the carpet right before our own eyes. It was the very first bagless vacuum that I had ever owned or even used and I loved it. That vacuum has now seen better days. It has been used to clean up many messes and I have been testing out the Bissell Multi-Surface Expert Vacuum to see if it will replace our older vacuum.
I haven’t used a canister vacuum before, and I have to say that it definitely does have its advantages, like it isn’t as heavy during use. This vacuum has what I would call extreme suction power. Check out the dry rice spill that it cleaned up with ease:
I found the vacuum extremely easy to put together, especially considering that is typically a job that I save for my hubby. I also enjoy the easy of use of this particular vacuum including the adjustable height on the wand and the easy push cord retractor and power button. The swivel feature on the head allows for easy cleaning around all of the MANY obstacles that exist in my house.
While this particular vacuum is meant for Multi-Surfaces, do note that it doesn’t not have a beater bar. Having said that, however, the suction power is exceptional! We had a liquid spill on our couch this week and after I had what I thought was successfully patted out all of the liquid, poured baking soda on it and set it in the sun to dry for 2 hours, this vacuum sucked up more liquid that had settled deeper into the foam of the cushion. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I noticed that it had sucked liquid to the surface AND had vacuumed up the baking soda with ease. Do note that this vacuum is not meant for wet spills!

Wow this is such a great vacuum cleaner!
I have heard a lot of good things about this vacuum. Sounds like it works great!
I love how compact it is!!
Oh I love it!! I’ve been reading some great reviews, we are moving and have to replace our current vacuum, my broom lol.. will read more about this thank you
Oh wow! How impressive that it was able to help dry out a wet cushion – Very much a time and life saver π
I know, right?!
Bissell sure knows how to make a compact canister
Sounds like a great vacuum. I’m in need of a new vacuum. I wonder how good this is with pet hair?
Holly – I don’t have a pet, but I would think it would do really well because of its superior suction!
I would think so as well. Bissell makes great products!
It works AMAZING for pet hair! I have the exact same one and I love it!
Tiffany thank you SO much for sharing your thoughts!
Sounds like a good vacuum, I am looking for a canister one for our RV so I will have to take a look at this one. Thanks for the review.
This looks handy and light weight.
Is it really loud or quiet. Two of my 4 munchkins are terrified of the vacuum!
I have never heard of a quiet vacuum, but that being said, it is definitely one of the less noisy ones that I have used and I have used and tested quite a few! My son used to be terrified of the vacuum! I would have him go to a different floor and put headphones on while I used it. He thought the vacuum was going to suck him up, poor guy. The noise also really bothered him as he is EXTREMELY sensitive to noise.
when our vacuum, kicks the dust so to speak we will have to take a longer look at this one
I like that it has a 1-click means of attaching the attachments
Yes, that sure does make it handy!
I LIKE THAT IT WOULD BE EASY TO MANUOVER ON THE STAIRS
Sounds like a great vacuum. Amazing that it sucked up the leftover water from your cushion!
I know, right?!
Looks like my central vac might have bit the bullet, have to get it checked out, if not I will be looking for a new one
Oh dear, I’m sorry π
I love that this vacuum is bagless and super quiet! Definitely keeping this one in mind!
I do like the sound of this Bissell vacuum. I didn’t grow up with canister vacuums but I have used them most of my life and find them so much easier to handle than an upright one.
