Do You Ever Feel an Instant Connection with Someone?

No, this post is not about romance, it’s about friendship.

Do you ever have the experience where you hardly know someone, but the more you talk to them, the more you can’t get over the similarities you have?

I’ve recently had this experience with Lilac from Pawsitive Living.

Recently, I introduced Lilac to some amazing natural and organic skin care products from Penny Lane Organics and we got chatting over email.

I told her about the crazy day I had and she responded that I should sit down and relax with a delicious cup of Spearmint Tea, that is her favourite flavour. The ironic part was that just a few minutes prior to that, I had steeped a fresh cup of Green Mint Tea that had Spearmint in it and I was truly enjoying the flavour. Mint is one of my utmost favourite flavours for anything (food or scents).

It was no surprise when she emailed me back asking me if I had ever tried Chocolate Mint tea. Above mint, chocolate mint is my utmost favourite flavour! I tried my first ever loose leaf tea from Teaopia this past November and of course, what flavour was it? White chocolate mint; To.die.for.

I am trying to get away from drinking coffee all day, and especially in the colder months, I really enjoy a nice hot beverage. This has led me to desperately trying to find a tea that I enjoy drinking. A tea that I look forward to sipping away at while I work. I have now found a couple of options and I have also learned the trick to not making it bitter (as I enjoy my tea plain with no milk or sugar).

The trick to steeping delicious tea is to pay attention to the temperature of the water! It truly does make a difference, and I now have a Moulinex Kettle that allows me to boil my water to a set temperature.

Lilac, I look forward to our continued conversations, something tells me we have more to discover.

Have you made a recent connection with someone that took you by surprise?

Yes, I’ve had this same kind of “instant” connection with a few people in my life and it is awesome 🙂 So happy for you two….may you enjoy many more connections over tea (and perhaps IRL one day!)

Yes I do have that experience from time to time recognizing in that person a kindred kind of spirit. I have never met her but she sounds lovely and I haven’t had a cup of tea in soooo long. Because I packed my kettle a month ago at least. Maddening. Trying to move.

  6. No tea for a month?! Oh no! What about boiling water on the stove?

Amanda I’m blushing, thank you for your kind and warm words. You are indeed a kindred soul and I completely enjoyed our conversations. I’m sipping on delicious peppermint tea and thinking how grateful I am to have such an awesome friend. Wow, I didn’t realize water temperature affects the taste of the tea either! Thanks for sharing & caring. 🙂

  8. I’m glad that I gave you a smile today, Lilac! Whenever I drink my mint tea, I will think of two important people: my sister and you!

Most of the really long friendships I have enjoyed have come from almost instantly ‘ connecting’ with someone-As Anne of Green Gables describes ” a Kindred Spirit.”. It’s probably is because we have so much in common. It is wonderful to have such friends.

I have definitely felt this a few times in my life, and I still share it with my two closest friends.
