Book Review: Howard B. Wigglebottom and the Power of Giving: A Christmas Story

Howard B.Wigglebottom/Powr/Givng/Chrisms.

Many children get very wrapped up in the whole notion that they will be receiving gifts during that holidays and they sometimes forget the importance of giving.

In my family, we try very hard to stress the importance of giving by talking about it and by also giving to others who are in need through toy donations, food banks and various charities.

The book Howard B. Wigglebottom and the Power of Giving: A Christmas Story by Howard Binkow and Susan F. Cornelison is a wonderful story about a bunny rabbit named Howard who forgets about the importance of giving.

Howard ends up going on quite an adventure that ends up with him having a new understanding and appreciation of giving and sharing. The story has some sad parts to it, but it definitely has a happy ending.

In the back of the book, there are two pages dedicated to teachable moments in the book. Some of the topics directed towards a child in the back of the book are the happiness of getting, the happiness of giving, learning to share, paying attention to stay out of trouble, being homeless, talking to strangers and the sport of holidays or Christmas.

My children love the Howard B. Wigglebottom series and this book will make a welcomed addition to our book collection in our home.

November 1- Howard B. Wigglebottom and the Power of Giving seems to me to be a necessary gift to a child in our life each Christmas. Some children seem more sensitive to helping others and some more not so much. This book, and your example, will help Children discover the joy of helping others. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Elva Roberts
