BePreparedPeriod.com – A Site for Girls, Women & Parents

Mensturation is a natural and normal part of being female yet for some reason, it tends to be such a taboo topic.

In attempt to make this a more comfortable topic for everyone, BePreparedPeriod.com has created a space online for women and girls to unite.

There are so many different places to visit at BePreparedPeriod.com including Information on Periods and Puberty and Testimonials as well as Shopping for Period Products!

Now for the shopping side of BePreparedPeriod.com – what I think is one of the most exciting aspects of this website! BePreparedPeriod.com are proud to offer girls and women organic and conventional options for menstruation supplies. Their slogan is “At your door, LESS than the store.” You can’t beat that!

They have a Subscription Option that allows parents and women to select their desired/favorite products and receive them at their door when they need them (every 2, 3 or 4 months), automatically. It’s terrific for women or girls that don’t like to display their products at check out, also great for single dads or separated families.

Another unique feature of BePreparedPeriod.com is the Be Prepared 1st Period Kit. It includes two guides, “A Guide for Parents: With Direction and Answers to Your Questions and Hers” and “A Guide for Girls: Answers and the Straight Facts You Need.” The guide for parents was designed to help give a brief refresher health course on what is happening in a girl’s body during puberty so that they are prepared to answer their daughter’s questions while also giving the parent pointers for how to talk with their daughter. The guide for girls was created to give her all the information she needs to “Be Prepared.” (Ideally, she will have a parent that is willing to have an open conversation about it, but in case she doesn’t this kit will help prepare her.) The kit also includes all the needed supplies.

One last amazing feature of BePreparedPeriod.com is their gift certificate option. This option is terrific for both moms and dads (in addition to other supportive family members) living apart. Moms not living with their daughter can purchase a gift card so that her daughter can shop online without having to ask dad to go to the store or give her money. She can buy online and get it delivered to her home. This enables a mom to still help and be supportive even though they do not share a household. For Dads, they can give their daughter a gift certificate so she does not have to ask for supplies or money. (Ideally, parents and daughters would have open communication and their daughter would not feel uncomfortable with this topic as it is a natural part of life, but BePreparedPeriod.com realizes this is not always the case. At this age it can be hard for girls, especially if they have a parent that is not comfortable.

BePreparedPeriod.com also hosts a regular Twitter Chat, #periodtalk, an open place to discuss questions and topics surrounding menstruation. Their next chat is on November 11th, 2011 at 11am PST/2 pm ET.
