Finally Diaper Free

As a Mom of twin boys I always tried to tell myself I was never too concerned about potty training. I was on the “it will happen when it happens” side I said, besides, changing a diaper is easier than spending hours in the bathroom with the 2 of them. We did everything we were suppose to – had the potty out all the time, they (still) follow us to the bathroom, tried rewards, tried down playing it, tried no pull-ups and tried letting it okay and try again later.

By the time the boys were 3 and a half and still in pull ups if we left the house I was getting WORRIED. School was starting soon and I know our school is big on the kids handling the bathroom on their own. Finally one of my boys was just THERE – he did the bathroom completely by himself, went without me asking him, told me when he had to go when we were out, we were golden! Can you believe it? All that trying and not trying and pretending I don’t care and he just did it when he was ready. 🙂 His twin soon followed suit, whether he was just ready as well or following his brothers lead I don’t care! We did it!!

I know different things work for different families and some of you special folks have the kids trained before they are 2 and that’s awesome for you! For us it really was a case of when they are ready they will do it, as simple as that.

When you are panicking in the night like I tried to pretend I wasn’t – just remember – really, no one goes to school in diapers, they will make it, I promise!!!
