I used to have straight hair. Not poker straight, if I didn’t blow dry it, it did have a slight mind of it’s own, but by no means was it curly.

Then I had kids!

Oh yes, the pregnancy hormones played some games with my hair and it’s never been the same!

Now, I can have a shower, towel scrunch my hair, add some product, scrunch it again and voila, my hair is done for the day! Jealous?! Well, it can get rather untamed on hot and humid days AND if I try to straighten it, it takes A LOT of effort!

So, when I was asked to review the book Curly Girl The Handbook by Lorraine Massey with Michele Bender, I was MORE than happy to do so.

Lorainne Massey taught me things I never, EVER knew about my curly hair. She has a unique method called the CURLY GIRL METHOD that I have been trying out and it seems to be working really well for me! She even defines different curly and wavy hair types and discusses the different ways to treat each type of curl–who knew there were so many different types of curls from Corkscrew to Zizags!

Curly Girl is jam packed with information about how identify your curl type to teaching you daily care routines to do-it-yourself recipes and many, many more Curly Girl necessities! It also comes with a Step-by-Step DVD that has brief instructions for your daily routine, trimming tutorials and beautiful up-dos for nights on the town!

Some of the information in the book is very new to me and it took me a little while to get my head around it (no pun intended–haha!), but I definitely am thankful that I have learned so much about my curls and I feel more confident in embracing them and enjoying them! Thank you Lorraine Massey and Michele Bender 🙂
