School Zone provided me with two workbooks to test out on my three year old daughter.
The Big Alphabet Workbook is just that: BIG! It is a HUGE workbook with activities such as letter recognition, beginning sounds and manuscript writing geared for children aged 3-5.
As a former Kindergarten teacher, I have to say that I am not a HUGE fan of traditional “worksheets” in order to teach these skills, however, some children really do love doing them and if that is the case, this book is definitely for them. It is also great for those children who could use a good review!
The worksheets are individually perforated so you can take them out of the book to make them easier to write on. They are colourful and written in large fonts so they are easy to read. I found the activities to be mostly age appropriate, although three may be a tad young to start this book.
Out of the many workbooks that I have seen geared towards this age group, I certainly recommend this one! It gets my thumbs up approval 🙂
The Math Readiness Sticker book has a very similar feel to the Alphabet Workbook, but it is much thinner. The addition of stickers to this book make it a book that can be used by younger children without making it too difficult. There are more difficult activities towards the end which would be appropriate for the upper end of the suggested age group of 4-6.
The book focuses on learning the numbers 1-12, practicing number sequence, counting objects and money, matching and comparing amounts, telling time, learning basic addition and subtraction, and more.
Again, out of the many workbooks that I have seen, I definitely do recommend this one!
