My goal is to reach a normal BMI which would be 24.9 (the top of what is considered a “normal” BMI) at 164 pounds and from there, I plan to reassess.
I was introduced to the term Clean Eating thanks to my new friend, Kelly from CityMom.ca. I already knew what foods were “good” and what foods were “not so good” (for the most part) before, but believe it or not, I hadn’t heard of this term: Clean Eating before.
So, What is Cleaning? I did some research and found out that clean eating is about eating well. It is about choosing whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates and staying away from junk.
Is this new to you or were you already aware of the term clean eating?
In my goal of limiting my refined sugar intake, I finally found an answer to my yogurt dilema with the help from Kat at Canadian Online Moms. She listened to my challenges with finding a good yogurt that worked for me which were:
- It must be low or no fat.
- It must be high in protein.
- It must be LOW in sugars.
- It must NOT taste like or resemble plain yogurt in way, shape or form.
This was a difficult challenge! I had found the yogurt base that I wanted to use and that was a plain, low fat greek yogurt, but the super challenge was to make it appeal to my picky taste buds.
My solution? Make a Fruit Syrup Recipe by cleaning and chopping my fruit of choice (this week, it was strawberries and cherries) and bringing it to a simmer on the stove for 5 minutes while mashing it with a potato masher. No added sugar, just plain fruity goodness.

This chunky fruit puree (I like to call it) works so well mixed with plain yogurt, topped with chia seeds. Yum! Yum! It thins up the thick greek style yogurt and sweetens the yogurt 100% naturally! I would call this good, clean eating if I don’t say so myself!
By using the Online Tracking Tool available FREE by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, I am able to easily track (by hand or online) the foods that I eat, the times that I eat and the breakdown of how items from each category I consume in a meal or day. The My Healthy Weight Action Plan Tool has helped to motivate me and guide me to becoming a healthier individual.
This week, I received a great article from the Healthy Weight Action Plan! The article shares idea so for Planning for Fitness at Home.

Look at you go! Way to go!! 😀
GREAT idea to make your own fruit to add into your yogurt. I hate the plain yogurt flavour – maybe this would make our yogurt healthier around here haha.
So inspired by your efforts! Keep it up! 🙂
Sound yummy!!
Do the kids like it??
great job! I have heard of clean eating before, but never really knew what it meant
Great idea for sweetening plain yogourt in a healthy way
wow! you’re doing fantastic!!!
and that fruit goo looks yummy!
wow you’ve got a huge amount of good info here. We’re trying to eat cleaner!
Oooh..sounds good!! And you are doing so great!
That looks pretty yummy! I haven’t heard of the term Clean Eating either, but thanks for sharing that info. And woo-hoo, you lost two pounds, super happy for you girly, keep up the good work!
You’re doing awesome! I don’t like yogurt but I haven’t tried greek yogurt yet. Neat idea with the fruit!
I had not heard the term clean eating either although i was able to guess what it meant.
That is excellent! I take every day as a challenge, to eat clean, to teach our children about living healthy and to get us all active.
Clean eating is definitely the way to go. You feel so amazingly good when you eat clean. Mmmmm. I. ADORE. CHIA. SEEDS. The strawberry “compote” looks delish.
Wow, good for you Amanda! I’ve just started thinking that I’ve got to shake off my winter lethargy and start actually eating right and getting outside more again now. That fruit puree looks amazing, and my doctor swears that that’s the ONLY way to healthily eat yogurt! 🙂
I love greek yogurt except the plain too! Funny you posted this as my goal for this week was to have yogurt and fruit for breakfast instead of just eating whatever leftovers happened to be in the fridge.
I actually don’t mind plain yogourt… but this sounds like such a delicious idea I am definitely going to try it. Brilliant stuff lady.
See I love yogurt lol. But that’s me. I’ve never heard the term clean eating, though it’s cool. I will be trying to implement this into my regime as I’m trying to lose weight.
My challenge for the week is to only eat chocolate one day… I am a bit of a chocolate fan. My husband and I eat pretty healthy… except for the sweets. We are working on it, thanks!
Awesome job this week (sorry for the late comment though).
Yep. I know clean eating. I attempt clean eating. Actually, I’m doing a challenge and this week is the no processed foods challenge. It’s really hard. (I try every day – but really … so hard!)
I am actually really proud of a health thing I’m doing for myself, but I’ll send you a separate email 🙂
I just found this post very interesting read,i need this.
