I am a huge believer and fan in play-based learning. This type of learning doesn’t stop after Kindergarten either! I have witnessed the fantastic outcome it can have in later grades too. Hands-on, fun approaches to learning makes education more engaging and interesting, which ultimately increases attention spans and therefore retention of new information.
Learning that involves children being active in a hands-on approach is key to the success of many students. One example of a tool that can be used in many hands-on activities is a Hot Wheels vehicle. Think of the science and math involved, not to mention the fun!
The PTPA approved, Hot Wheels® FUNdamentals Learning Program is a program that creates Fun Learning Activities for Home and School that aims to provide parents and teachers with easy-to-implement lesson plans that are built to encourage problem-solving and communications skills among Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. With kid-friendly toys revving up the learning experience, your students will be on the fast track learning in no time. These lessons are created by experienced educators and is aimed to help teachers meet math, science and language curriculum expectations in a fun and engaging way.
Not only can this program be implemented and used in schools and educational settings, but it can also be set up at home too.
The lesson plans are FREE and can downloaded from the Hotwheels in School website. New lesson plans will be added in the future too in order to continue the learning.
There are also FREE Activity Books that provide children with a fantastic opportunity to further extend their learning at home. The books are filled with activities to stimulate learning such as mix-and-match games, pattern recognition, language skills and some simple counting and addition.
The fun and learning that occur when my son plays with his Hot Wheels vehicles always fascinates me. By adding some directed learning, it is absolutely incredible what he can create and learn at the same time.
Awesome! I received packages from this program last school year. My students LOVE the Hot Wheels products, and we have had so much fun creating interesting tracks and structures with them. I was quite grateful to have it offered to our school! 🙂
It is such a fun program!
This sounds like great package
Those activities sound like a lot of fun! I love the idea of combining play with learning
Wow These sound like great activities!
what fun activities!
You can so much through play
Those activities sound like hours of fun!
I do think that children learn better and quicker when they are having fun, for them it’s then just ‘playing’.
