About once a month, I get this crazy urge to clean. I don’t mean sweeping the floors, dusting and wiping the counters, I mean REALLY clean! Are there any other women out there who deep clean and organize their homes according to their menstrual cycle? It’s like clockwork around here for me.
So, this weekend, I was wiping our glass stovetop when I noticed there was a slight (it was very slight) pile up or caked on crumbs in the corner. My AMAZING Envirocloth from Norwex couldn’t get the gunk out because it was right in the corner, so out came the toothpick!
One clean swipe of the toothpick along the rim of the stovetop and I couldn’t believe how much hidden (literally hidden to the naked eye) gunk there was.
This job of giving a DEEP clean to my glass stovetop will have to be added to my monthly cleaning list!
How to DEEP clean a glass stovetop …
Note: I use my Norwex Envirocloths to clean literally EVERYTHING in my house! Just water and a cloth is all I need for 99% of my cleaning jobs and I love it!
A few years ago, if you had asked me whether or not I would trust one cloth and some water to clean my house, I would have thought you were crazy! But, here I am, I have been converted to trusting the deep clean that a Norwex cloth provides with its Anti-Bac qualities.
P.S. Thank you Mom for the glass-top stove! I promise I am trying to take care of it the best way I know how. I wasn’t neglecting it, honest! Now that I have had a glass-top stove, I don’t think I will ever turn back to having raised elements! The cleanliness that I can achieve with the glass-top stove is SO much nicer. I feel very fortunate that my Mom handed me down her old stove, it is a gem to me!
I dusted my tv stand and it was pretty horrendous! It had dog hair everywhere, and I dont even have a dog!
Ummm……who has the dog?! LOL
I get those clean-all days also where everything is flying
LOL glad I’m not the only one!
I do too! LOL!
Phew! Tasha – welcome to the binge cleaner club!
My mother has a glass top. Curses it every time it needs cleaning. When I’m there I usually tackle it for her. The previous home owners left a blade scraper and showed her how they usually maintained it. You would be amazed at what the scraper can do. Definitely saved us time and effort as it gets EVERYTHING including the gunk you don’t see in the corners or along the sides….
I’m very curious about a Norwex cloth tho 🙂
Laurie – I wipe mine down every night after dinner so it doesn’t get too dirty. Occasionally something will spill on it and I have the BEST and easiest solution for that, I should share that in another Tuesday Tip! I have heard great things about scrapers, but I do not have one. Norwex cloths are the absolute best, let me know if I can answer any questions for you!
I’m kinda glad I don’t have one. My Mom does, she complains constantly when she’s cleaning it or needs cleaning.. backs it up with “I do love my stove though!”.. women! lol
The honest truth is my old stove was worse! There were so many places that needed to be cleaned. I do love this “new” stove!!!
I have a glass top stove and hate how everything collects on it. I have tried many different ways to get it clean. I am going to try your way since I have some Norwerks cloths
Let me know how it works for you, Darlene!
I’ve never used Norwex Envirocloths before. They sound really wonderful!
Oh Tashsa – I have a huge stack of them and use them on everything from wiping hands and faces to counters to floors and toilets too! They have silver embedded in them that help to kill the bacteria and their microfibres are extremely fine so they pick up everything! Let me know if you want to know more.
Sounds awesome! I would definitely love to know more and maybe try some out! 🙂
I miss my glass top stove. I used to use a butter knife to clean the edges…Lol
That would work too! I just would worry it would scratch the surface?
I will have to get a Norwex Envirocloth. I would love to have a cloth that does so many things 🙂 I don’t have a glass stovetop, but I assure you gas tops are not any better. Stuff gets caught in every nook and cranny.
Oh I know that gas nor traditional range are no better, it is SO true!
Let me know if you want more information about the Norwex cloths!
I’ve used the toothpick trick as well..I’ve also used it to scrape off teeny tiny specks that won’t seem to come off the top..I don’t know if that’s good but I try to be gentle. I feel like I should be constantly cleaning my stove top! I’ve never heard of this Norwex cloth, I definitely want to try it, anything to make cleaning it easier haha
I love the toothpick trick! I’m kinda worried about what will come out of my stove’s countertop when I use it. 🙂
I can never seem to get my glass top truly clean, I hope this works
For the build up on the actual glass, I use an all purpose scrub cleaner from Penny Lane Organics! It works like a charm and makes your kitchen smell beautiful!
Thanks ! Sure hope this works! Note to self: Never get a glass stove top again if this doesnt work!
Norwex Envirocloths sound amazing. I’m going to have to try one.
The Norwex cloths did a good job
Did you try them on YOUR stove? Do you have Norwex cloths Darlene?
My microwave was a nightmare to clean. Yikes!
I hate my glass stove top! I’m constantly wiping that thing down.
My Mother has a glass top and its clean clean clean it
