As I read Nicole’s post about having difficulty conceiving baby #3 today, my heart truly went out to her!
When I was younger (e.g. in my late teens/early-mid 20’s), I dreamt about having children. My “plan” or rather my “dream” at the time was to have plenty of kids by the time I was 25. That plan didn’t work out as planned, but in the end, that is ok! I got married at 27 years of age, in July of 2003. In June of 2004, we successfully conceived my daughter after only 1 month of trying. At the time, a few of my co-workers were also trying to conceive and were stressing about how long it was taking them to conceive. They shared their stories about everything that they were trying to track their cycle and to improve their chances of conception.
Luckily, I listened well to my co-workers and took notes in my head because little did I know at the time, I was going to need all of those tips a couple of years later! My husband and I foolishly thought that because we conceived our first child within one month of trying that when we tried for our second, it would be easy peasy. Not.so.much!
It took us 2 1/2 years to conceive my son! There were many factors at play and it was a VERY stressful time for us. I was devastated month after month when I would look at the pregnancy test OR when my period would come. I remember the feeling of disappointment and dispair when I would see the negative pregnancy test result.
BUT, the good news is that one day, 2 1/2 years later, the stick showed positive results! By that time, I honestly didn’t believe it so I rushed out to the doctor immediately to get confirmation via blood test and sure enough, it was positive! I was pregnant!
As much as I had originally wanted more than two children, my husband and I have decided that two is a great amount for us. We are blessed with what we have and couldn’t ask for more.
So, to all of you out there who are trying with no success. My heart goes out to you! Try not to give up hope, surround yourselves with love and support and remember that you never know what the future has in store for you!
I’ve shared my story with you because I truly believe that it helps to hear stories from other people who have experienced difficulty with getting pregnant!
Thank you so much for sharing your story! It definitely gives me hope. I can honestly say recently seeing that big gleaming NOT PREGNANT in my face was a shot in the heart, but we just keep on.
It’s an honour to have you on board as my cohost for the #ClearblueConfirmed tweet chat!! 🙂
