A is for Ketchup. “No it’s not!” That’s the first thing that the toddler noticed when we sat down to read this book together. A new book is one of her favorite things, and a silly new book? Well, she just loves that.
You know what I love? I love the fact that it’s a book that captured her interest about learning letter sounds. I could teach her letter sounds until I am blue in the face by recognition and repetition – but A is for Ketchup did what I’ve been trying to incorporate into our learning schedule, and it did it quicker than I could.
With the hints through the images in the book, she was able to have the prompts she needed to find the ‘right’ sound that went with the right letter – and I was able to read the book without it becoming a chore (even the twelfth time around).
Xavier Finkley nailed the preschooler learning technique in the short twenty-eight pages of the book that’s become a staple in our preschool collection and a must have for iBooks so she can read it while are on the go.

My boys love this book, the 2 that know about their letters and sounds, laugh so hard they fall over. The youngest listens so intensely, and sometimes laughs or yells no b/c the other 2 are so worked up.
