We received a Slow Cooker as a wedding gift and until this year, I hadn’t ever pulled it out! Now I am wondering why it took me this long to use the most convenient cooking appliance ever!
I recently received a recipe book called Holiday Slow Cooker ~ Delicious Recipes for a Year of Hassle-Free Celebrations by Jonnie Downing.
This recipe book is definitely a time saver as far as preparing holiday meals go, but there are many meal ideas that can be used day to day, year round!
Some examples of recipes included in the book are:
- Pork Loin with Wine Sauce for New Year’s Day
- Easy, Delicious Gumbot for Mardi Gras
- Pulled Pork for Fourth of July
- Pumpkin Soup for Halloween
- Maple Brown Sugar Ham for Christmas
The book includes appetizers, sides, main dishes and even desserts! Who knew that you could make Cinnamon Bread Pudding in a Slow Cooker?!
Although this recipe book is small in size, it sure is jam packed with recipes and ideas! It includes serving sizes, prep time and cooking time in each recipe.
I like how the book is organized by Holiday, but one thing that I do miss in this book are photos of what the dishes look like. I am such a visual learner. If I can see a photo (which there are a few) of a dish that looks appealing, I am more apt to trying it out! Can you guess that Pinterest is my new best friend?
Will you be making something in your Slow Cooker this holiday? What is your favourite dish to make in a Slow Cooker?
