It’s that time of year again when the kiddies start coming down with cold and flu bugs like they are going out of style.
My daughter gets sick a lot. Despite our best efforts to give her the proper food, vitamins and sleep, she still seems to get hit with every single cold bug that flies through her school.
This means we have to take her temperature A LOT! I remember when she was younger, we had a forehead swiping thermometer. We liked it, but we found that you had to swipe too many times for an accurate reading and it required some precision with where it was being swiped, which we all know is difficult on a child.
We then moved onto an ear thermometer. This was easier to use than the forehead swiper, but when a child doesn’t like something going in their ear on the best of days, this became a challenge when they get sick.
I was so excited to receive a Kidz-Med® VeraTemp® Non-Contact Thermometer to try out! It’s truly amazing how far today’s technology has come. A thermometer that doesn’t require skin contact AND it provides an accurate reading! This was my dream come true.
This thermometer could easily become a toy for me, I love it that much! It even takes temperatures of a room or your bathwater!
I absolutely LOVE this thermometer for night time temperature taking because it is quiet and you can leave your child peacefully sleeping because you don’t need to touch them. Sleep is super important when it comes to a speedy recovery.
I like how the back light of the screen shows green, orange or red depending on the temperature reading. This is very helpful for middle of the night readings when you are tired as the colour will alert you if there is a fever.
The only challenge I experienced with this thermometer is that when trying to take the temperature of a perfectly healthy child (for purposes of this review), it was difficult to get them to remain still (yes my kids are that active!) long enough for it to take a reading. For the record, that means that it was hard to hold them still for one second.
This thermometer is BY FAR my most favourite one of every style we have tried!
