This recipe came from my Grandmother. She made these bars every year at Christmas. I’m not sure why the name of them is “cake” because they really are bars in texture. Either way, they are quite yummy and extremely easy to make!
Desperation Cake
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp almond extract
1 cup flour
DIRECTIONS
- In a bowl, mix all ingredients together with a fork.
- Spread flat in a 8 or 9 inch square baking pan
- Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes













These sound delicious! I love everything almond & they are quite easy to make!
