Tim Hortons New Lasagna and Garlic Bread (REVIEW)

When I heard that Tim Hortons had just started promoting a new dish: Lasagna and Garlic Bread, I will admit to being very intrigued. I love my pasta, that is no secret! And well, me and Tim Hortons coffee, well, we are best friends. So, why not marry the two?!

Here’s a funny thing, I asked for my meal “to stay” and the above is what they gave me. I nice stainless “tray” with a disposible cup and spoon as well as the garlic bread wrapped in paper. As much as Timmies is getting their recycling/waste sorted out, they still have a ways to go with being more eco-friendly.

The lasagna is a perfect lunch sized portion (there is a large size available) and the garlic bun is a cute little bun that is rather yummy – a bit heavy on the butter though. My meal was super duper hot – which is a good thing, especially if you are taking it “to go”.

The pasta was cooked well and there was a surprisingly very large amount of ground beef!

The downside is that I felt that there was little to no cheese. There were a few white flecks which appeared to be ricotta like, but they were so sparse and I didn’t get any hint of cheese flavour in any of my bites. I love my cheese in lasagna, so this was a disappointment for me. As well because of the lack of cheese, I did find the lasagna to be on the bland side as far as salt goes. I *never* add salt to a meal, but I am guilty to have sprinkled a tiny bit into my lasagna at Timmies!

Would I get this again? Honestly, I’m not sure. Overall, it wasn’t a huge disappointment, but I’m not super excited to try it again either.

I’m sorry Tim Hortons because I truly LOVE your coffee (so much that I would prefer it to be brought home to me over flowers!) and I do enjoy most of your food! But, I have to be honest with my readers on this one.

Even though I know I’m not of Italian descent, I just know I should have been born in Italy…pasta is my all time favorite food! Lasagna is so yummy! I’m going to have to get some NOW!!!

I find it both interesting and wierd that Timmies now sells Lazagna! Maybe it’s just me. I have never been big on their food though and I’m not a coffee drinking so yeah 🙂 lol but I love their ice caps!

Ever since I found a local independant donut store that reminded me what a REAL donut is supposed to taste like, I haven’t been back to Timmys for one since. However, I’m still guilty of going there to grab a bagel or croissant every now and then. I’ve been curious about the lasagna, I’ll probably still give it a try but I now I won’t go out of my way to get it. I’m like you, my lasagna needs to be full of cheese 😉
