BOOK REVIEW and (closed) GIVEAWAY: What to Expect When You’re Expecting Series

Congratulations to tumyii and Athena (tinatchick) the winners of this giveaway!

The “What to Expect” book series is one of the most popular and trusted book series out there for pregnant women.

When I first found out that I was pregnant with my first child, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel was the very first book that I rushed out to buy. So many of my pregnant friends or friends that had already had babies told me this was the pregnancy bible. Pregnancy bible it was! I consulted that book almost every single day. It answered so many questions that I had about being pregnant, my changing and growing body and what to expect during child birth. I found that this book provided me with reassurance and answered many questions that I had. I will warn Moms to be that this book is also a harsh reality at times. It doesn’t sugar coat anything. The authors tell it like it is, but that is the type of book that I like.

What I like the most about this book is the way it is laid out. Each chapter is written in a predictable manner. The book is also written with a series of questions that are answered, each month, I had many of the same questions!

I liked What to Expect When You’re Expecting because I’m a planner. I like to know all of the “what ifs”, “what mights” and “maybe” scenarios. Some people may need to skip over some of the information in this book if they don’t want to know all of the possible things that could go wrong as it may freak them out. However, if you are a planner or a person who likes to be “in the know” about everything like me, you will absolutely LOVE this book and read it front to back and back to front throughout your entire pregnancy!

And now for the giveaway…If you are pregnant, if you know someone who is pregnant or if you know someone who is trying to get pregnant, this would make the perfect book!

Please note: I am trying out RaffleCopter as a means of giveaway entries. Rafflecopter is still very new and is currently in “test mode” so there still may be a few glitches (on their part and on mine!). I’d love your feedback on it – do you love it, like it, hate it and why! You can leave your feedback in the comments on this post. The comments on this post aren’t included in the random entries – those are tracked in Rafflecopter.

  1. I have a friend who is 6 weeks pregnant. I know she would love this book.

Also, we have a six month old Grandson and I know my Step Daughter would benefit from this series.

I used these books when our Son was a baby and I remember that they gave practical advice in terms that were easily understood.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway. ~Pauline

My husband and I are planning on starting our family and I’d love to have this book.

I don’t care for Rafflecopter when the comment has to be left in the blog post. In my experience, 95% of the people don’t do that step. I’m never quite sure if that means that only the people who followed directions are entered or if it really doesn’t matter.
