I’m in a wedding this coming fall and I really want the gifts that I buy to be special. Well, isn’t that a silly thing to say, don’t we all?
Weddings are very special events and many people want to give a gift that is something special. A gift that when the couple sees it reminds them of you (in some capacity).
I’ve always struggled with this because I also want to buy the couple what they want and something that they can truly use (e.g. something from their registry) so I always try to do that for their bridal shower and even for their wedding too, but I must always do something personal as well. After all, weddings are a personal event.
In the past, I’ve bought ornaments with the year engraved on them, given wine of the month subscriptions (those are always fun!) and I’ve also made shadow boxes with their wedding invitation in them with beautiful papers, materials and ribbons to decorate the box inside.
This time around, I’d like to do something different. They live in a quaint house on a special street and to mark their first house and to always remind them of their first house that they lived in together, I’m considering house plaques. I’ve always liked the looks of these, I think they add character and personality to the front of someone’s house.
What is your take on wedding gifts? Do you buy from the registry? Do you buy something unique? Do you have any fun or different ideas for me to consider?
