Congratulations to “tumyii” and “flowerchild”, the winners!

The Chuggington series has a very different feel to it than the traditional Thomas the Tank Engine. I find it more fast paced, energetic and fun – especially for my 2 1/2 year old who needs things to be exciting to capture his attention. Chuggington does just that! The music is up beat and the characters are very cheerful, colourful and animated. As I type this, the Chuggington theme song is singing away in my head. It’s catchy! And it plays in my house QUITE A BIT!

Chuggington has two DVDs released. Chuggington: Chuggers To The Rescue and Chuggington: Let’s Ride The Rails. I like the fact that the Chuggington shows aren’t just about trains, but they also teach children about social skills and life lessons. Teaching children positive character traits is something that is missing in a lot of television programming these days which drives me absolutely crazy. In fact, it not only is missing, but it is often the opposite! So, when I find a show that has it, I jump right ON BOARD!

I also love the short length of these Chuggington episodes on the DVDs as they are just perfect for a little person 🙂 And for a Mom who likes to limit tv watching – at least try to!

In Chuggers To The Rescue, the Chuggers learn about patience, accountability, following instructions, and how to get the job done. Let’s face it, these are definitely all skills that young children need some work on and who better than to teach them than some colourful, animated trains that the children will sit and watch with anticipation?!

In Let’s Ride The Rails, the Chuggers learn lessons about overcoming fear, responsibility and problem-solving, all while discovering social-readiness values like friendship, teamwork, courtesy and more. My son is at an age right now where every day he has something new that he is afraid of and he requires assistance from an adult to help him get over that fear. I’m happy that this DVD has lessons built right into it to help with that!
