BOOK REVIEW: A Royal Little Pest Mine! and A Royal Little Pest by Anita Reynolds MacArthur

We received two books for review written by Anita Reynolds MacArthur called A Royal Little Pest and A Royal Little Pest Mine!

The main character, Prince Hayden MacCheeky, is a little boy who doesn’t like to share anything and he loves to annoy and irritate his siblings.

A Royal Little Pest

Prince Hayden MacCheeky is a REAL little prince who learns that playing with his royal siblings is WAY more fun than imitating and irritating them. He lives in a royal castle with royal parents, royal siblings and even a royal dog named Goober.

This story is written in a way that children can relate. Hayden, the main character just wants to be a part of an activity that his siblings are doing and he just doesn’t know how to join in, so instead he annoys and pesters them. The language in these books flows really well and my children and I really enjoyed reading them together!

A Royal Little Pest Mine!

Prince Hayden MacCheeky is a REAL little prince who learns that a little royal sharing leads to a LOT of royal fun for EVERYONE.

I love this little book about Prince Hayden who never wants to share any of his toys until one day he gets a taste of his own medicine. The illustrations in this book are cute, bright, cheerful and unique and the story has some spunk to it. Our family really enjoyed this one and it gave us the perfect springboard for a much needed discussion about sharing!

  1. Alicia C. says:

We have both of these books. My little guy LOVES them. He’s just gotten into the “MINE!!!” thing and, when we read the “red book,” I always point out the nasty faces of the kids doing the mine-thing.

  2. Yes, my little guy is into the “mine” stage too! Everything is “mine” that he can get his hands on.

My fav saying is “In our family, we share…”–I repeat this thousands of times a day!
