If I Could Keep You Little by Marianne Richmond (Sourcebooks; ISBN: 978-1-4022-5559-5; Hard Cover $15.99; November 2010) is one of the sweetest books I think I’ve ever read. Maybe I’m so emotionally attached to this book because I feel like my “baby” is growing up way too fast right before my eyes, he turned two just over a month ago and it seems like just yesterday I gave birth to him!
Anyhow, as a Mom, I could completely relate to this book, “If I Could Keep You Little I’d….But then I’d Miss…..” The repetitive text in this book makes it appealing to even the youngest of children, but the message makes it appropriate enough to put away and give it to your child as they are leaving to go away for University. I love it, I just love it! I’m not sure who loved it more, me or my 5 year old.
Marianne Richmond captures every parent’s feeling of the “push/pull” phenomenon that you want your child to grow and experience that next step in life yet they grow too fast and you want to hold onto every moment you’ve got.
This book would make a great gift for your child this holiday season. Or you could buy it and tuck it away for that *gasp* end of year occasion–graduation! It’s an enjoyable and inspiring book with beautiful illustrations!
