Last week, when the kids weren’t taking the big, yellow school limosine to school, they had the opportunity to be chauffeured around in a luxury sedan, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. What a beautiful ride it was!
To start off with, it was my favourite colour, blue. And it wasn’t a subtle blue either, it was a nice, bright blue that made me smile every time I looked at it. I’m not joking! Blue makes me smile, ok?!
This car is a large car with quite a bit of space. The kids had MORE than enough leg room in the back, something that is very important for them. I should also mention that the car is wide enough that there was enough elbow room to prevent fights (most of the time). They both really enjoyed the pull down arm rest in between them AND the button that brought down an automatic window shade for the BACK window. The only thing that they missed in the back seat were extra cup holders. For some reason, they didn’t feel like there were enough! There were two cup holders in the pull down arm rest between the two of them.
With a 3.8-liter V-6 engine, this car had GUTS, more than what I am used to! Without even trying, people were assuming I was trying to be the first one to get a head start from stop lights. It was definitely a fun ride and extremely comfortable.
There were a ton of bells and whistles that I enjoyed while driving this luxury sedan. Some of my favourite features were:
- Heated Leather Steering Wheel
- Panoramic Sunroof
- 12-way Power-adjustable Front Seats with Lumbar Adjustment
- Blind Spot Detection (BSD)5 with Rear Cross Traffic Alert6 and Lane Change Assist (LCA)
- HUD (Heads-Up Display)
This vehicle certainly makes driving easy by alerting you of potential obstacles and helping you to keep your eyes on the road (not your dashboard). Distracted driving is such a focus right now, I was happy to use a vehicle that truly allowed me to focus on driving 110%, except for when the children were distracting me which is a whole different story. As a side note, I have been known to pull over when the children are too distracting, but luckily I have learned to tune a lot of their chatter out!
The kids and I had a great time driving the 2015 Hyundai Genesis to pick up school supplies at Walmart and Staples and having a fun night out grabbing Subway for dinner! We enjoyed all of the opportunities that we had to test drive this vehicle.
Did you know that Hyundai supports a program called Hyundai Hockey Helpers that helps under-resourced Canadian youth play hockey? Hyundai covers all administration costs for the program, so every additional dollar raised goes directly to kids.
I WISH that I could giveaway a 2015 Hyundai Genesis but…
instead, one of my lucky readers has the opportunity to win a Hyundai Hockey Helpers Jersey that you will be able to wear proudly, knowing that you support a terrific cause for children.
Well, you know that I am completely in love with my new Hyundai Santa Fe! It is so great. I love all of the features it has. The kids enjoy the window shades in the back but they have to be pulled up, not automatic like the Genesis has. That is so cool! I was shocked to find out that the steering wheel was heated! That was a nice surprise! Heated steering wheel, where have you been all my life?!?!?! And I love blue too. The Genesis blue looks fantastic. Glad you had a great time testing it out!
I don’t have the model with a heated steering wheel, but I can totally see how this would be a super nice addition to have!
I think I would want to drive the Genesis coupe
Yes, I bet that would be REALLY nice – I didn’t want to try that one out with my kids b/c the doors would be bigger and more challenging to get in and out of the back seat 😉
I wish I could drive the 2015 Genesis, looks great. Mine is starting to go.
I agree on the Genesis Coupe! My father-in-law had a Sonata and loved it.
