How often do you get together with a girlfriend, just the two of you?
Girl time is important! It helps us “recharge our batteries”! When I head out to catch up with a girlfriend, I say to my kids that I am going out to “recharge my Mommy batteries”. It is amazing what an hour or two out with a friend can do to re-energize you! I feel happy, re-energized and refreshed.
I’ve got a fun idea for the next time you head out to lunch with a friend! Head out for lunch and try one of Wendy’s Salads. The delicious options include Asian Cashew Chicken Salad, BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad and Taco Supremo Salad.
Did you know that Wendy’s was the first restaurant to bring the salad bar to quick service customers more than 30 years ago?
Last week, my girlfriend Shari (from www.knitwitbyshair.com) and I went out for lunch together at Wendy’s. Salad was definitely our food of choice and we LOVED the sounds (and looks) of their three new salads filled with popular culinary trends. Like many girlfriends, we both ended up choosing the same salad; the BBQ Ranch Chicken, but it was definitely a difficult choice because the Asian Cashew Chicken and the Taco Supreme Salads sounded delicious too.
In fact, when you watch the Wendy’s video, you can see the Taco Supreme Salad up close and agree with me that it looks mouth watering as well!
While we nibbled on our flavourful salads that had a unique and bold touch with many different textures, we enjoyed getting caught up on our news. I have recently moved my blog over to WordPress so we chatted quite a bit about blogging, but we also talked about husbands and health and so many more things. I find it so amazing how two individuals who have led such different lives growing up, can find so much in common and so many things to discuss. One of the things I love best about my friendship with Shari is that we are very different people with many different viewpoints, beliefs and outlooks on life, but yet we enjoy learning SO much from one another and we respect each other’s differences. Also, at the core, despite our many differences, we have some major things in common that help us form the roots of our friendship.
I felt good knowing that the salad I ate is 50% lower in fat grams, 29% lower in sodium, and 61% lower in saturated fat than other salad options that I have previously enjoyed. Also it was prepared fresh for me that day with veggies that were washed and chopped by hand in the restaurant. The warm, 100% premium all white chicken that was freshly grilled, was so tasty and I enjoyed the crispy bacon on top too! The dressing was delicious and so flavourful that I only needed to use one of the two packets that they provided. The lettuce that was included in my salad was a mix of romaine, iceberg and triple-washed leafy greens, a delicious and healthy combination.
I really liked the fact that there was an option for half and full sized portions. Both Shari and I enjoyed our salads so much that we enjoyed the full-sized portion, however I could definitely see a time when I might only want half.
When considering my choices, my top two picks were:
BBQ Ranch Chicken
- Savory backyard BBQ in a bowl
- Uses premium ingredients that you see around your grill, such as fire roasted corn, freshly diced tomatoes, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and a honey BBQ sauce.
- The salad is served with a BBQ Ranch dressing, made with real buttermilk, parmesan cheese, ancho chili peppers, honey and brown sugar.
- Is a tribute to the freshness and world famous flavour profile of Mexican cuisine and a burst of flavour in every bite
- Uses fresh and tasty ingredients like diced tomatoes, tangy salsa, rich meaty chili, shredded cheddar cheese, crunchy taco chips, and sour cream served on a crisp bed of fresh lettuce
