I’ve been learning how to keep food fresh with a FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing System!
My husband has been wanting a FoodSaver for a VERY long time. We like to purchase beef tenderloin when it goes on sale and he cuts it into roasts and steaks for us to store in our deep freezer. The problem is, we often lose at least one roast because it gets freezer burn. Every time this happens, he will say, “this wouldn’t happen if we had a FoodSaver”. Well, finally for Christmas, I gave hubby a FoodSaver. We had to wait a while for Beef Tenderloin to go on sale, but when it did, you had better believe that we took advantage of the sale!

It is not messy at all. We followed the suggested instructions of freezing the meat slightly prior to sealing.
Using a FoodSaver means less mess when thawing meat too! I no longer have to put a plate underneath the food as it is all sealed in the package until we cut it open.
You can purchase pre-sized bags or you can use a roll of FoodSaver plastic that you can cut into custom sizing for a perfect fit.
The unit itself is very small which means that I can store it right in our kitchen, making it super convenient to use.
How do you store meat for the freezer?

In the past, we haven’t stored meat because I didn’t have a FoodSaver. However, there will be one waiting for me when I get back to Canada!
I hope to buy a 1/4 cow and get freezing. It’s way more convenient and saves on money!

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts, Sarah! 🙂 Thanks for your comment.
I really want one of these! I currently use freezer bags and I dislike the freezer burn.
I really fancy having something like this. Now that I’m on my own nearly everything I buy the portions are just too big so I’m always freezing stuff and this would help enormously. I’ve also heard that food stays fresh longer in the fridge if using one of these.
I’m all about buying in bulk and freezing in small portions – so practical!
I have one and love it,every kitchen should have one it pays for itself in the long run
