I am so excited to share with you that I have been selected to be a KinderMom again!

In our house, Kinder Eggs are always a fun treat! Not only are the so yummy, but they are also peanut free and they have a fun toy or surprise inside each one!
This March Break, what will you and your family be doing? Will you be hitting the beach somewhere exotic, going somewhere cold to ski or maybe you will entertain a Staycation like we often do.
Many families hop in their family vehicle and drive somewhere for March break. Whether it is an hour drive to the ski hill or a few days drive to Florida, travelling with children can be challenging at times.
What does MTM have up her sleeve for car trips?
- Lots of snacks! Healthy snacks are wonderful AND important, but it is always a good idea to pack a treat or two as well, you never know when you might need one! Kinder Eggs make an excellent treat because not only are they a tasty, sweet bite to eat, but they also include a little toy to use as a distraction!
- Pack wipes or a wet cloth for sticky fingers, a garbage bag and drinks for everyone.
- Car games are fun and can keep children occupied for hours. Simple games like pointing out letters on license plates to going through the alphabet listing words or names that start with each letter to Hangman are always fun.
- Pack some books or magazines that your children have not read in a while.
- Music! Whether it is CDs for the whole family to enjoy or iPods for the kids, make sure you have a variety of music to listen to.
- The Dollar Store is a great place to stock up on mini activities for children. Sometimes it is fun to make a grab bag of new things from the Dollar Store to toss into the back seat when things get a bit hairy.
- If you are fortunate enough to have a DVD player in your car, don’t forget to pack a variety of movies. These come in handy especially while one child is napping to keep the other child from being too noisy!
- Make up a family story together. Have each person add a word, a thought or a sentence to the story. To make it even more exciting, make a small bag with objects in it. Pass the bag from person to person as it is their turn and encourage them to use that item in the story. Young children may not be able to add too many words, but they could even do an action with their item OR it could serve as a prompt for them.
I encourage you to visit KinderCanada on Facebook to check out their 2012 toy collection, some great conversation, and exclusive monthly contests through the My Kinder Moments application – this February they are giving away $500 towards the ultimate staycation!
I’m part of the Kinder® Mom program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.

the grandparents are three hours away so we tend to do a lot of car travel. the dvd player is great for young kids who can’t read to themselves or play games yet.
Great tips! Road trips were a staple in my life growing up, I didn’t fly on a plane until I was 17 and I’d gone on family vacations and cottage trips yearly before then! As an adult, I still love long drives because it reminds me of the fun we had growing up on our road trips.
We always played car bingo, and had these great bingo cards from a place in South Carolina. Music was HUGE for us too… we always had walkmans, but also listened to a lot of upbeat music on tape or CD (haha, iPods in your post made me do a double-take, I’m so old school… oh yeah, of course kids would have iPods and not discmans or walkmans, LOL).
My parents always seemed to be able to make our road trips fun, we loved them. I look forward to road trips with my own kids one day, I know lots of people hate them with young children but I hope to make them as exciting as mine were, to create similar great memories to what I have.
I love going to the dollar store and buying gifts to surprise them with along the way. They love this part of the trip and it gives them a new activity to do. I also take along my iPad with me for the kids. Through my provider DISH, I have a Sling Adapter, which allows me access to all my subscription channels on the iPad. I just need a Wi-Fi or 3G connections and the kids can watch their shows live. A co-worker at DISH told me I could now access my Blockbuster@Home service through my iPad now as well. The kids always play games and watch movies on it.
