Tackle It Tuesday: Getting Healthy is Hard!

Ok, so I just came up with a fancy and fun name for today’s post. “Tackle” could mean many things and this is what I like about it. On Tuesdays, I’m going to *try* to blog about something that I’ve tackled in the previous week. I might tackle getting organized or I might discuss how I tackled my Getting Healthy Challenge. I might even discuss something that I’ve found particularly challenging in the parenting world!

Today, I’d like to discuss how I am tackling this “Getting Healthy” routine, along with a few challenges as well.

Although, I tried to start “Getting Healthy” last week, I found it rather difficult as our family was not back to our usual routine. My daughter was still home from school and my hubby took a second week of holidays. Routine is something that many of us thrive upon and I’ve learned that in order to make a significant change in one’s life, one truly relies on routine to help them get through. The fact that we went to the movies twice last week and there was popcorn was too much of a temptation for me, let alone the fact that we had a Christmas celebration with my side of the family (hello treats!).

So, instead of getting completely down about my failure to jump head first into “Getting Healthy”, I decided to take a few baby (and I mean baby) steps and start whole hog this week!

Yesterday was my first day and boy oh boy, was it ever a challenge.

I had to tackle many cravings and feeling hungry all day long!

How did I do it? I drank water every single time I felt hungry or the urge to eat AND I chewed gum. All.Day.Long!

I also chatted with a few people who are taking a similar challenge as me which served for a great challenge. I also felt supported and motivated by them.

My Little Review Corner and Sober Julie both gave me suggestions for how to continue my “Get Healthy” path and my dear friend Kia from signed up for the Heart and Stroke “My Healthy Weight Action Plan™” which I am super excited about!

I also received a whole bunch of supportive comments on yesterday’s post which made me feel really supported and motivated! Every single comment put a smile on my face and truly felt like a virtual hug! Thank you everyone!

I went to bed starving and I woke up extra early because I couldn’t sleep, but this morning, I am sitting here enjoying my coffee and feeling like this is a brand new day to tackle and I CAN DO THIS! because I deserve to be healthy!

Do you have something that you’ve tackled this week that you would like to share?
