A Fun Sunday morning Quest at McDonalds #cbias #EqualCanada

This morning, the kids and I were in major need of a distraction. What better place to go than McDonalds where the kids are happy to play, have a fun meal and where I can watch them take advantage of their free Wifi.

We arrived with plenty of time to play and for me to enjoy a hot drink.

I ordered a Cappuccino and waited for a good 10 minutes before I received it (not sure why, but I finally did have to speak up), with the kids eager to play, we quickly got a table with a premium view of the Play Place and off they went. While I was sipping on my yummy hot drink, I noticed that I kept dribbling some of the beverage onto the table and even once on my shirt. I felt like a complete loser until I remembered that this had happened once before at McDonalds when I ordered a coffee. It must be their lids. So, as I type this, I have physical proof that I enjoyed a hot beverage as it is spilled down my front.

While the kids played and I enjoyed the free Wifi and my hot drink, I also noticed the many tvs that were placed throughout the restaurant. I was happy to see that they had “child friendly” programming on them.

When we went to order our lunch, after a good 45 minutes of play time, I asked if McDonalds had comment cards for me to fill out. The girl behind the counter asked if her manager could come speak to me, but instead she came back informing me that I could go online to fill out a Comment Card. She asked me why and I told her my two suggestions (the first person who had helped me with my coffee earlier was also asked about whether or not they carried Equal Sweetener as an alternative to sugar and after checking their selection, he politely answered that they only had one choice and it was not Equal).

I am disappointed at the lack of options for people who either choose or need to use sweeteners in their drinks. So many people have dietary needs and restaurants are becoming more and more accommodating of this, I hope that McDonalds gets on board and begins to offer a larger variety of sweeteners, including Equal.

The kids both enjoyed their Happy Meals, excited to see what toy they would receive at the bottom of their box and I nibbled on a small treat of French Fries (those are my guilty pleasure at McDonalds). They then went off to play for a little while longer, with me sitting and hoping that they would run off enough steam to come home and SLEEP at nap time.

As an aside, I think McDonalds is slowly making the transition to being called McCafe because when you go through the drive thu that is how you are greeted and I noticed there were signs throughout the restaurant as well.

I also noticed that Santa will be coming to our local McDonalds which is very exciting! You can have breakfast with Santa, how much fun is that?!

I had no luck finding Equal either. I found our Mc Donalds to be like a coffee house and not kid friendly at all. It kind of made me sad, even though it was only hubby and I

  2. I like the new look of McDonalds. I wonder if there will be a Santa breakfast at our local restaurant?

  3. Santa!? Cool, hope they do that here!

I don’t use sweetner or sugar in my coffee but I have to say I love McDonald’s coffee. YUMMY!!!
