I received a copy of Dance Central 2 after I posted about my opinions on Xbox and my family.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first played it because the only other experiences I had had with xBox were with Dance Dance Revolution (which uses a foot pad) and Zumba.
I was so excited when I first started playing it. Even though the game is rated “T” for “Teen”, my children still love to play with me. They cannot always do the moves, but it is the fun of the game that counts (or at least that is what I am trying to teach them). Some of the songs aren’t appropriate (in my opinion) for young children, so we just skip over them.
I get a great work out from using Dance Central and after using it for a number of weeks now, I can honestly say that I am becoming a slightly more coordinated dancer. You see, I am a klutz and although I LOVE to dance, I don’t dance well. But, with more Dance Central (and Zumba) that I do, the better I get and the more confident I feel.
I really like how it has different ability levels. In some of the songs I have moved onto the medium level of difficult – who knew that I would ever do this!
I also like that if one person begins the game, another player can easily join by simply going in front of the Kinnect camera and raising their hand with no additional sign in.
Speaking of the signing in, I do find that unless you are in exactly the best spot, signing in using Kinnect with Dance Central is a bit challenging. My kids still have not mastered using their body to sign in, so I am very thankful that they can just jump right in.
Dance Central 2 has a great variety of songs (with the ability to buy new tracks via the in-game Music Store or by importing your original Dance Central disc tracks into Dance Central 2).
It has so many fun features like making play lists, sharing photos of yourself dancing online and engaging in head to head challenges.
The graphics are great too, featuring different dance scenes and characters.
I wonder if they have a Dance Central type game for children so that I wouldn’t have to worry about the song selection!

Thanks for reviewing this! I have always wanted to get these types of games for myself. Hopefully I won’t end up in a full body cast because of it, lol!
Sounds like alot of fun! I’m sure my grandkids would have a blast with it!
thanks
