Shari from Knit Wit by Shair shares about Christmas with her family….
Christmas time is my favourite time of the year. I have always been like a little kid this time of year, and opening presents is one of my favourite parts. Oh, the Christmas memories…..
My in laws have always laughed at the fact that I get the most excited about opening presents, and how it’s not just MY presents that I want opened. I want to see the look on people’s faces when I get them the perfect present. This probably explains why I go a little overboard with my husband and boys. And my hubby is as bad as I am.
When we are going to start shopping, we make a list of everyone we need to shop for. Then we look at each name, and come up with a gift either from their list or from what we know about them, and what they would love.
Armed with a list and a pen, hubby and I head out and find the perfect gift for everyone on our list. Sometimes the ones I have on my list get crossed off, and we pick something else if we find the perfect gift while we are out. We can usually get done all of our shopping in a day, as we have done pre-planning. Plus going out shopping before the rest of the family has started shopping really helps to get the perfect present, as no one has a chance to get it before you do.
Mattel has some great presents in their holiday gift guide, and some of them are the ones we are gifting this year. Here are our top 3:
Fisher-Price® Bright Beats Dance & Move BeatBo – Beatbo is for kids aged 9 months and older, and will help them learn their letters, numbers, counting, music and more, while playing fun music to dance too. He even takes the baby’s first words and make them into a party hit! How fun is this?
Hot Wheels® Ultimate Garage – We have a son who is a huge collection of Hot Wheels, and no amount of storage is enough. He has his favourites that he likes to keep out so they can race, that means stored on the floor. I love the Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage. Look at all those parking spots, 38 of them! But, it is also a place to play with your cars, and it even has a helicopter landing pad!
Mega Bloks First Builders Block Scooping Wagon – Ok who doesn’t remember the classic Mega Blocks Wagon? This is a classic toy I buy almost all little ones for their first birthdays, or Christmas. But imagine this….it scoops up the blocks for the little ones…and for Moms and Dads too! Now when your little one makes a big mess with the blocks, you can have them walk around with their wagon and pick them up the easy way!
