It’s NOT Too Late to Visit African Lion Safari!

Until October 14th, African Lion Safari opens its doors to visitors daily from 10:00-4:00.

African Lion Safari

My family and I visited African Lion Safari at the end of August. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect seeing as I hadn’t been there since I was two. My Mom shared stories of our visit and all I really remember was the story about her nursing my sister in the back seat of our car as we drove through the reserve and a giraffe LION came right up to the car! Needless to say, her milk seized up and she had to stop nursing!

I was VERY impressed with our trip to African Lion Safari!

We took the bus tour through the reserve which was WELL worth the trip on its own. Our tour was filled with anecdotes from our driver about all of the animals and we stopped at each animal to sit and watch for a period of time in order to ensure that everyone got a good view.

Both of my kids insisted they wanted to take photos of all of the animals. My son snapped hundreds of photos using hubby’s phone, we had to do some serious cleaning up the numerous images that night!

I will note that if you go, be sure to plan out what time you would like to take the bus tour (if this is something you wish to do) and purchase tickets at the beginning of your trip to ensure a place on the bus.

My kids’ favourite part was Misumu Bay Wet Play, the HUGE water park area! We honestly could have spent the entire day just at the water park, the kids had so much fun! There were changerooms at the facility and benches spread throughout for parents to observe. I’m not a helicopter parent, but when it comes to water and my childrens’ safety, I tend to stay pretty close to them, so there was no bench sitting for me! There are life guards on duty, but it was BUSY!

We also took the “African Queen” Boat Cruise which was a great way to start our day. The guided boat tour travels slowly down a river, slowing down to view a variety of animals. I was able to get some cute photos and learned a few new facts along the way.

I found all of the staff super friendly during our visit! We felt welcomed and encouraged to ask questions.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have time during our visit to go to any of the amazing sounding shows. Some friends who have gone have shared that the shows were the highlight of their trip. If you are able to visit African Lion Safari, be sure to leave some time to see a show or two.

There were plenty of washrooms spread out throughout the venue and we enjoyed a nice lunch too.
