Info: Parents Magazine iPhone Apps–Inexpensive and Fun!

My hubby has an iPhone and he absolutely loves it. I say a bit too much sometimes, but that’s another topic all together!

Ok, ok, I will admit, his iPhone is pretty awesome! There are so many incredible apps avaiable for the iPhone out there.

I never thought that when my hubby got his iPhone that it would actually prove to be useful for our 2 year old, but it has. He has a few apps for it that Little Man adores and in a pinch if he’s cranky and only wants Mommy and I’m trying to get dinner on, it’s the one time I’m actually ok with him using the iPhone.

Parents Magazine has come out with two new iPhone apps that look pretty awesome. I suggest you give them a try. It’s worth it, especially given their price at

Since it’s pumpkin carving time, the experts at Parents magazine have developed a Parents Carve-A-Pumpkin App, available for 99 cents. You and your child can pick one of five pumpkins of various styles, carve it freehand or pick from the library of wacky eyes, noses and mouths, add a background and message and then share with friends! You can download the pumpkin app at the iTunes store. My hubby downloaded another pumpkin carving app, but I do have to say that this one looks much more child friendly!!!

Parents Flash Cards introduce colors, shapes, letter and numbers to young kids! There is colorful animation and sound, including phonics, to keep the little ones entertained while they learn. The colors and shapes apps can be downloaded for free, and the letters and numbers apps are available for 99 cents each. You can find the Flash Cards at the iTunes store. There is something about digital flashcards that make them more fun than paper ones! And they could keep little ones entertained for as long as you need them to.

Thanks for writing about this. I’m on the look-out for effective toddler apps to keep my boy entertain (and calm) when we are lining on a fastfood counter or waiting at the clinic for his doctor. And an app I can recommend for mommies is Intuition (http://intuitionapp.com) aka “moms personal assistant”.It does more than schedule my day; it reminds, alerts, and links me to other moms.
