I always have my eyes peeled for new fun ways to add a bit of creativity to my childrens' food!
Recently, I have been introduced to FunBites that can be purchased in Canada at www.tinywiggles.com.
The possibilities are just about endless when it comes to the types of food that you can use FunBites on! We really enjoyed making fun bite sized sandwiches for school.

My daughter doesn't usually eat her whole sandwich when I send it and my son doesn't like crusts so using FunBites to make them bite sized, crustless mini sandwiches is the perfect solution for both of them.
I found FunBites very easy to use. The rocking cutting motion allows me to make perfect cuts every single time! I also love how "popper top" makes it easy to pop out all of the mini pieces in one quick push!
FunBites come in two shapes: squares and hearts.

We like to make mini pizzas on english muffin halves. It's always fun to let the kids make faces on them with the toppings.

I like to make mini snacks like using toothpicks to pin mini sausage (or for regular ones, chop them in bite size) with pineapple or cherry tomato. Or on toast, I will use Nutella to draw a happy face on it.
ReplyDeleteI like to make food fun with lots of colours. I add different types of fruits and berries which make it more interesting to my son.... and more likely he'll eat it.

We make food fun by using cookie cutter so make fun shapes with food. This would be great to add to our collection.

Get the kids involved in helping make it. Personal pizzas are great for this.
ReplyDeletethe best way to encourage kids to eat is by letting them help you make the food. i agree with many other mama's that say mini pizzas and snacks, i like to offer a wide variety of foods and let em have fun with it! :)
ReplyDeleteI see all sorts of ideas on pinerest to make food into faces and such. I am just lucky to get them food... on a plate... and somewhat healthy.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fun thing to do as a kid was getting donuts and decorating them with icing using piping bags... go figure now I do cakes...
ReplyDeleteWe make mini rosettes from cherry tomatoes and call broccoli 'trees'. Its so much easier to get your son to eat his veggies when you play hungry dinosaur! ;)

ReplyDeleteWhen ever I make sandwinch's for my son I use cookie cutters to cut the crust off so he thinks it is so cool.
ReplyDeleteWe've planted raspberry bushes in our backyard and when they are ready for the picking, we get our daughter out picking them (she likes that) and bring them back in and serve them up with vanilla ice cream.
ReplyDeleteI make hot dog eating fun but putting slits lengthwise and poking eyes with a fork to make an octopus! DD loves eating her hotdog this way (sans bun)

ReplyDeletesurprise plates!!! fast, easy and good. i put little bits of the kids favorite foods on the plate, a bit of this and a bit of that, jello, cereal, marshmellows, fruit, salad's, cold cuts, cheese, a cookie or two, granola bars. the kids love it and usually clear their plates.
