I was supposed to have some “me time”, something that is so important, but those plans got cancelled and so I took the kids with me instead.
We went to one of the 11 Tim Hortons in our city for lunch, during the week because both kids were feeling a bit under the weather and some warm, hot soup from Timmies would hit the spot. We were SO lucky that we arrived when we did because just as we sat down with our food, the lineup grew and grew and grew! Timmies is a hopping place at lunch time and many of the tables looked like this:

I’m not trying to criticize Tim Hortons, rather I am disappointed in the people who just leave their trays behind. How difficult is it to clean up after yourself? I digress.
When I ordered my coffee, I decided to ask what choices there were for Sweeteners as I have recently met a friend who has an allergic reaction to sugar. I also have a few friends who have Diabetes and another person close to me who is trying to avoid sugar. I was disappointed to learn that they only had one choice and that more options like Equal were not offered. Not everyone who prefers (or needs) a Sweetener likes the same brand, wouldn’t it be great to have a variety of options available?
My kids and I sat down to have our lunch. My daughter ordered Italian Wedding Soup and a biscuit. I had the new Lasagna and Garlic Bread (more on this in another post) and Mr. McPickersons had a plain bagel, toasted and lightly buttered.

But, my favourite part of the whole meal was my Timmies Coffee! I love coffee and I especially love Tim Hortons coffee. It is such a treat for me, that given the choice, I’d rather my hubby bring me home a coffee than flowers, does that make me a complete freak?
I love how Tim Hortons has started sorting their waste and recycling. What I find hilarious, though, is that the plastic coffee lids belong in the paper section and not the plastic section!

I try really hard to remember my reusable mug when I go, but I often forget in all of the chaos of getting out the door. Ironically enough, even though I said everything was “to stay”, I was still served with everything disposable except for the metal tray that my lasagna came on. I must be more clear next time.
I am now heading over to TellTimHortons.com to fill out a comment for my experience today. The one thing I will definitely mention is my request for them to add Equal to their Sweetener selection! I am also going to cross my fingers that I win the Free Coffee for a Year for filling out their form!

I am all for the coffee too! One night when I had a really long day with the boys I asked hubby for a Timmy’s and the silly man came home without it. He thought I was killing, after seeing my face he realized I wasn’t. He made me a Tassimo, but really not the same.
It surprises me Timmy’s doesn’t have more sweetener options!
Love my Timmies )Especially this time of year)
I’m one of the few that don’t drink coffee! the soup sounded good though. Tim Horton’s are always dirty, especially the bathrooms. ew.
Warm drink on a cool day, one of the things that makes fall so wonderful
Ohh, a whole other post about the Lasagna!?
Good or no?
I’ll wait until your verdict to try it myself!
.
It sounds like a nice place. I love the recycling bins. Most of the places around here do not have that, grr. I agree too, Clean up after yourselves!
Thanks for sharing
Tims coffee is the best! I’d have a Tims coffee over a Starbucks coffee anyday! Its cheaper too! Too bad you usually have to wait in line for half an hour! We Canadians LOVE our Timmies!!
