Enjoy a Family Movie Night This March Break with @Netflix_CA #StreamTeam

One activity that our family LOVES to do together is to watch movies!

We all look forward to our Family Movie Night on Saturday night!

With it being March Break this week, I anticipate the children wanting to watch a few extra movies throughout the week.  I am ok with this because kids deserve some down time this week.

First, we will bake some muffins together.

Then, we will settle down on the couch in the family room to pick a family friendly movie.

Here are some family friendly movies available on Netflix:

From the above recommendations, we have seen:

  • Turbo
  • Happy Feet Two
  • The Croods

Next up on our list will be:

  • My Friend Bernard
  • Antz

I always like to read up on movies prior to watching them with my children. I do this for a few reasons:

  1. To check them for violence.
  2. To check them for too much bad/inappropriate language.
  3. To ensure that there is no suggestive behaviour that is inappropriate for young children.

I absolutely LOVE to consult Common Sense Media as they rate movies in the following categories:

  • positive messages
  • violence and scariness
  • s*xy stuff
  • language
  • consumerism
  • drinking, drugs and smoking

They also give each movie a recommended age rating as well as having a 5-star ranking for quality.

Not only do we find Netflix to be a cost effective form of entertainment, but we also love the convenience of having such a variety of movies to watch in our family room whenever we want.

My husband and I are enjoying watching the popular Netflix TV Series House of Cards. So much so that in less than two weeks, we will have watched the entire first season. Talk about power watching!

Family movie night is a great tradition. It’s funny to think of how times have changed. My family movie nights growing up involved going to the Rogers store to rent a DVD!
